It’s beyond awful! Seemed like a good idea after lots of booze last night for dh and I to fake tan each other. Did not go well! Have tried lemon juice, long shower, bicarbonate soda scrub, face scrub and nothing is shifting it if anything it is getting worse. Any other remedies that actually work?

Which fake tan did you use, and what/ where is the problem?

Berthatydfil · 23/06/2019 11:33

Long soak in the bath then scrub damp (not wet) skin with a rough dry towel.

Lucked · 23/06/2019 11:33

I think soaking in a bath before exfoliating (I just use a facecloth is better that a long shower.

Foot creams with urea are exfoliating so you could rub it into the worst areas, wait a while and see if you can rub off some of the skin.

Deemail · 23/06/2019 11:38

Long soak in bath with lots of Epsom salt, followed by a good scrub.

Queenioqueenio · 23/06/2019 11:41

Go swimming - chlorine bleaches it off, then exfoliation / shaving should remove the worst of it.

Passthebubbly · 23/06/2019 11:42

It was the skinny tan spray coconut oil. Worst is hands feet ankles elbows and face, it’s the hands that are the worst I can cover the rest with clothes but dear god I had no idea it could go this wrong. 😂will try all of the above thank you

Massage baby oil over the worst patches , it helps to dissolve the fake tan.

Passthebubbly · 23/06/2019 11:43

Lesson learned do not mix Prosecco and fake tan!

Photo or it didn't happen Grin

St Tropez do a tan remover mousse, but you'll have to go out in public to get it!

I hate fake tan, but I have teenagers so know these things Wink

noodledoodler · 23/06/2019 11:47

Toothpaste, leave it on your hands for a few mins really works

Grin If you have any glycolic acid toner that works brilliantly, just wipe it over and leave for an hour, then wash and scrub.

catinboots99 · 23/06/2019 11:56

A couple of caps of Dettol in the bath removes fake tan

Gogreen · 23/06/2019 12:20

Whole photo or it didn’t happen 😂

Sounds like it was a good night though! Shame it was followed by a horrendous morning....😂😂

PivotPivotPivottt · 23/06/2019 12:25

Toothpaste. I discovered this by accident when I spilt some on me while brushing my teeth.

Ellapaella · 23/06/2019 12:32

If one of you can bear to go out in public you can buy tan remover in Superdrug or boots

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 23/06/2019 12:34

Emigrate to a hot country where your colouring will go unnoticed?

Shelvesoutofbooks · 23/06/2019 12:40

In my experience with fake tan, fake tanning oils are much harder to take off than mousse/lotions, and not only that but chances are it will be even darker tomorrow.

Sorry OP, no helpful advice. Besides buy a tan remover mitt and you can also buy tan remover in superdrug, that might help.

PoppadomPeach · 23/06/2019 13:01

There's different things you can try.

  • Slather your whole body with baby oil, leave it 30-40 minutes and then soak in a hot (as hot as you can bear it bath.) After about 20 minutes use an exfoliating mitt and scrub in circles to try and remove some of the areas of build up. After you get out the bath use a rough towel and rigorously rub your skin. The tan should 'roll' off.
  • Micellar water works wonders in removing fake tan from the face.
  • Lemon juice mixed with sugar (for a scrub) or bicarbonate of soda (for a foam) can both remove tan.
  • Magic Erasers remove fake tan very well (but can damage skin!)

Because the tan is SO fresh it will be slightly tough to remove it all instantly - but these things should fade your tan to an acceptable shade.

NaomifromMilkshake · 23/06/2019 13:10

There are two you can get in Boots, (but as per pp you have to leave the house) GrinGrin

I only know this because I was shopping with my Ds's GF yesterday and she turned up with the worst tan ever, I bypassed the hmmm polite stage and said as soon as we hit a Boots I will buy you some remover, my shout no arguments.

I then took her to House of Fraser and bought her a bottle of Christian Dior false tan, it wasn't cheap, (£39) but by God the difference between cheap and not cheap is night and day. Worth every penny in my opinion. The Dior one lasts the best part of a week and is a beautiful sunkissed tan.

Did you exfoliate and moisturise or did the Prosecco do the thinking for you.... Grin

CoffeeMilkNoSugar · 23/06/2019 14:26

If your skin is freshly scrubbed and all, then it'll be very difficult to remove the fake tan. You might be able to take off some of it, but you'll really have to wait at least 3-4 days until your skin begins to shed again, then it'll come off much easier with scrubs and removers.

Happens to me all the time ;)

burnyburny · 23/06/2019 15:43

A friend of mine swears by a dishwasher tablet in the bath 🤷‍♀️

IssyM · 23/06/2019 15:44

Hair removal cream takes it right off.

TarragonSauce · 23/06/2019 15:51

Just concentrate on your face and hands. And wear a wet suit to work this week. Sorry, no help.
But I remember a rather boozy night back in the 80s when dh and I, dbil and his gf decided to dye our hair purple. Cost me over £200 for new front room carpet.

gubbsywubbsy · 23/06/2019 15:53

You can get fake fan remover now in Superdrug and boots . Maybe amazon prime do it ?
