Make up products on EBay

I'm not as naive as I sound, I've read a lot of the stuff about how to spot a fake etc on the site. I have yet to come across anything I think is fake?

I've bought MAC blusher a few times and it looks exactly the same as the one I bought from the store...for £7. Also goes on the same, stays on my skin the same amount of time etc. So I have ventured into buying kohl...not so sure about that one.

So, EBay would have you believe that 99% of make up on there is fake but my experience says otherwise. So are they stolen goods then? What's the deal here!

I am an eBay junkie, mostly use it to sell clothes and stuff but I have bought make up on there, have come across a fair few fakes which is frustrating. I also use depop especially for make up, you should give it a go!

I’ve had only genuine products.
Admittedly it’s been only as expensive as Max Factor etc... l check feedback,

I think it's a bit difficult. If you go on ebay and expect to buy anything that's mega popular, especially thanks to YouTube and Instagram (Kylie lip kits, Huda anything, Anastasia Beverly Hills palettes and so on) than if it's cheap, it's 99% fake. In the past, MAC pigments were heavily faked. Also I'd be suspicious if the seller sells quite a lot of similar items

But, if you know what you're buying, like for example, all the items from the craze of advent calendars and beauty boxes than you can get bargains. There are a lot of sellers with GWP items and deluxe samples. I'd probably buy from them.

I've bought mini becca highlighter (heavily faked item) but mine was from Christmas set, seller was selling all 4, but only one of each colour, nothing suspicious and it turned out fine.

I check the reviews and never buy it from China. I just wonder if eBay are exaggerating the problem to put people off buying because they are stolen goods or something! I guess I will never know. Interesting that others have had positive experiences too though.

I bought a whole set of Maybelline 'long stay' type lipstick. These were unused store samples. I think I bought 20, in a range of colours all for what I would have paid for 1.

They are fakes if anything of Mac price point and above with endless supplies of the same colour. Even professional makeup artists only get 20% off Mac and the like.
A friend who shall remain nameless, worked in a UK shop that sold fake Mac. Go to any mall in thailand for example and there are piles and piles of fake mac, benefit, chanel makeup etc.

I wouldn't. Even if it arrived and it was a product I used all the time so knew well and it seemed fine, I would still doubt it and not want to use it. Not worth the risk!
Years ago I bought a clarasonic on ebay. When I recieved it I put the identification number into the online checker to verify that it was authentic and it worked fine. However, when I looked at the box while the lay out and pictures were ok the box was full of spelling mistakes and incorrect punctuation. It put me right off. I checked the clarasonic over inside and out and it seemed legit, no rust etc but I couldn't get past it. Returned it saying it was fake and the seller didn't even try to argue which raised my suspicion. In the end I went to John Lewis and bought one there. Waste of time as I hated the bloody thing but thats a different story!
