Beautiful and expensive new shoes have turned out to be farty!

I have had my eye on some lovely Vivienne Westwood shoes for ages, but they were somewhat outside my usual budget. So when I had some birthday money, I thought hey, why the hell not...

So I am gutted to report that they have turned out to be extremely farty! It's like every step emits a big old pump, very embarrassing around the office when everyone is working quietly and I get up to make a tea.

I'm wearing tights and foot deodorant so I don't think it's a sweaty foot thing. I think it's just the material they're made of and the fact I have quite high arches.

Don't know what I want from this thread, tbh, perhaps just a rant that my glammest shoes make such an un-glam noise. Although if anyone has any anti-farty tips, I'm all ears...

We need to see the !
See if they’re worth the humiliation

Rashatash · 19/06/2019 11:12

See the shoes that should have said

I don't seem to be able to post a picture without the browser getting stuck, but they're the Space Love Bee in metallic green.

These? www.countryattire.com/vivienne-westwood-x-melissa-space-love-21-slip-on-shoes/ca50150164.html?colour=Black%20Bee

They are plastic, so not much you can do Sad

So disappointing when that happens

Rashatash · 19/06/2019 11:27

Nice shoes.
You’ll just have to wear them for occasions where you won’t be moving 🥴
Or you could glide.

GraceMarks · 19/06/2019 11:34

Solitude yes, but in green. I can remember my boss at a previous job had a similar pair, and I don't remember hers making any noise, so it's bad luck that mine do. Maybe it'll improve with wear.

Rashatash or wear them to places where there'll be background noise to mask the shoe emissions!

try them with a pair of those: www.sockshop.co.uk/products/burlington-everyday-invisible-cotton-shoe-liners

Insoles might absorb a bit of the, er, vibration?

SushiTime · 19/06/2019 11:52

I went through a phase of been obsessed with these for work. They are really comfy! But yep, they fart and make my feet sweat. I used to put a bit of talc in them, just a bit though, too much and the farts look like something from a motorbike!

coshewasaprick · 19/06/2019 12:21

Can you get some of those squishy arch support things?

thenightsky · 19/06/2019 12:28

I've got some of those. Talc works best.

Justkeeprollingalong · 19/06/2019 12:43

PVC at that price?!

Justkeeprollingalong · 19/06/2019 12:43

I think that was my mother talking 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

GraceMarks · 19/06/2019 12:46

Katherina they're really low at the front so any shoe liner would show and ruin the look. I'm wearing tights with them and that hasn't helped!

Heathen I do have some arthritis insoles which I could try. I wasn't sure if it would make them too tight but I might as well give it a go.

Talc is also a good call, will experiment with the correct ratio to avoid billowing clouds shooting out with every step...

Haha, I know. But sparkly, pretty PVC with bees on. They are also scented if that helps.
