Skin prep and make up for an oily nose

My skin has always been dry, with a tendency to redness/thread veins so I’ve always used plenty of face cream, serums, moisturising foundation etc which keeps it looking ok. However recently I’ve noticed the area round my nose gets greasy and my face is shiny just an hour or two after putting on make up. It’s also really greasy, again mainly round the nose area, when I wake up in a morning. I don’t want to cut back too much on moisturing as I think my skin needs it, but is there any way to stop the oil slick effect but still look dewy? Have been looking at primers and setting sprays, but it’s all a bit bewildering! I don’t want to end up completely matt and caked in products. At the moment I use serum, eye cream, moisturiser then foundation or cc cream and loose powder. I did have some nice mineral face powder but that’s hard to find at a reasonable price. I’m 42 and don’t have a lot of money to spend on stuff like this so bargain products are best!
Thanks in advance Smile

Hey, I have the same sort of skin and I swear by pore minimisers. You can use one as a primer or what I do is use it last and it really keeps skin matte but it's definitely something you will need to apply throughout the day. Kiko, Elf, Body Shop all do one that's affordable and benefit do a more expensive but really good one! I've gotten to the stage where I just use pore minimiser in lieu of foundation and powder and my skin looks better than ever.

Ah, that’s interesting I’ll have a look at those. So do you put it on top of moisturiser?

Yep I used to use after moisturiser then use foundation and powder and would bring the pore minimiser with me to use throughout the day. Now I just use the minimiser in lieu of anything else and it suits my skin

To help with shine during the day blotting papers are fab. They lift the shine but keep your makeup intact and avoids reapplying powder, which can look caked if you’re reapplying. DHC ones are really good. Can buy on lookfantastic.com
I personally haven’t found primers help during the course of the day with oiliness.

Thanks, I remember having some of those years ago, I think they were body shop ones? Totally forgot they existed. They might be a good idea as don’t want to over mattify ( is that a word?! ) my face.

Boots No7 Airbrush Away powder is amazing. Doesn’t completely mattify so you look caked in makeup, but smoothes out pores and controls shine. I love it.
