Due to bad weather I had to put boots on today and I've ended up with a huge blister. Not what I needed when I'm going away thursday. Any tips?

Bathe in saltwater if it's an open one then a Compeed or other brand equivalent until it falls off.

It hasn't burst yet can I still put a blister plaster on it?

Definitely - blister plasters are great when it hasn't burst since they shrink it down

Sorry, not a unanimous suggestion, but I find blisters go away faster if you release the fluid. With the tiniest hole in the skin you can possibly manage. Then ideally saltwater/tcp/similar soak, and let it dry. Use a blister plaster if you’re wearing shoes that might irritate it, but otherwise air drying will make it go away faster and less painlessly, IME.

Get a compeed plaster on it asap. It will heal up amazingly quickly.

Compeed blister plasters are expensive but really great. You’ll be instantly more comfortable. Don’t get boots own make - there’s no comparison

In DofE we used to sterilise a needle and then add thread... pierce the blister with the needle and thread and come out the other side and then leave the thread in the blister so the fluid can drain away: sounds gross but it’s really effective

I'm going to wear sandals even in the rain there's no way I can put shoes on. I'm intrigued to try the needle and thread Confused

My lovely old walking sandals gave me a huge blister on the ball of my foot on the first day of my holidays !

I remembered the advice given in a book about long distance walking and did as suggested .
@piefacedClique has the answer ....topped with a compeed plaster I was able to continue walking in comfort .
