Please help with bikini line hair removal solutions?

Please share how you remove your bikini line hair as I am desperate for a solution which works and doesn't irritate the skin.

I have tried waxing, cream, shaving...and everything ends up in either angry spots/red skin. So either I do it early before my holiday to allow the irritation to go down but the hair is starting to grow back or I do it just before my holiday and have red marks Confused

Happy to try any solutions!

In over 39 years mine has been removed and I’ve never had a spot, rash, in growing hair or any discomfort.

You must use a proper razor and shaving foam if shaving.

I use talc afterwards and that makes my skin smooth and soft if I shave.

If using cream then you must adhere to the proper time and wash off every trace.

In your shoes if you’re not having much success I would have it professionally waxed and explain that you have had rashes etc and may have sensitive skin.

Philips Lumea has almost completely removed the hair follicles for me and it looks like the hair was never there. No regrowth. You do need a few weeks to use it though.

Tempjob · 17/06/2019 13:23

I have given up shaving... I have sensitive skin too and it was too much work ! I now wear swim shorts and they are great . You can buy modest swim costumes with shorts from Amazon. Then there is no need to shave

LaPampa · 17/06/2019 13:26

What kind of waxing have you tried? Try a hot wax (not strip wax) shower the night before, don’t shower the same day and take antihistamine.

StarlightLady · 17/06/2019 19:47

We don’t all want to end up on the beach in “modest” swimwear or shorts do we? Sounds akin to my grandmother’s knickers!

As suggested elsewhere, try either a hot wax with a reputable studio or shave with a 3 bladed razor such as the Venus Raspberry Quattro and instead of shower gel or a shaving cream, use a good quality hair conditioner. The razor them glides which may make a difference.

Enjoy your holiday.

Phillips Lumea if you can afford it - it's brilliant. I've had one for a year and my bikini line is as smooth and hairless as my torso.

Before that, the only thing that didn't irritate my skin was an electric shaver. It doesn't feel very smooth as it's not as close as a razor but it looks smooth and no spots or ingrowing hairs.

Theromanempire · 17/06/2019 20:02

Thanks for the suggestions. A Lumea sounds good but so pricey!

I can't face going to a salon..i find it too embarrassing Blush

Might try the shaving with a good quality razor and hair conditioner...worth a shot!

I'm the same op. Those saying you must not be shaving right etc can sod off. Some people are lucky to have no issue. No matter what method I use I get ingrown hairs etc.
Only thing that worked was the Lumea. Worth every penny.

NEtoN10 · 17/06/2019 20:09

I could never shave - no amount of conditioner or foam stops it's growing back itchy. Hot wax is the best, don't be embarrassed- they do it every day!

Theromanempire · 17/06/2019 20:21

God I am googling Lumeas now Grin is there a particular one for bikini lines or will any one do?

I strongly recommend you look into getting some Tendskin liquid. It really is miraculous for settling redness and irritation, and preventing ingrowing hairs.

Makemeaname · 17/06/2019 21:05

I use Wilkinson sword bikini trimmer. Not very close even on the closest setting but good enough for me and no redness/soreness

LaPampa · 17/06/2019 21:12

A reputable salon who specialises in waxes will have seen it all. If you only want a bikini wax (as opposed to a Brazilian or super high leg wax) then you won’t have to take your pants off. They cover the part not being done with a towel. Hot wax is super fast, takes maybe 5-10 mins tops.

IhaveALooBrush · 18/06/2019 07:27

Lumea
And my 'lady strimmer' it's by braun, its tiny and white with a few different heads, its epi something and I got it in tescos.
I did use the wilkinson sword pink one but it kept dying.

gotmychocolateimgood · 18/06/2019 08:44

When is your holiday? You need about 12 weeks with the lumea to get full effect. I have the Philips essential model. You use it every 2 weeks after shaving.

MyNameIsCharlesII · 18/06/2019 08:53

The cheapest lumea will be fine. I paid £139 I think from Boots so got the points too but it’s the same price on Amazon. Or was. The essentials one.

You’ll have to keep shaving or whatever in the meantime though. The biggest lightbulb moment for me with shaving was to shave downwards rather that up against the hair. Totally stopped any irritation but was slightly less smooth.

babasaclover · 18/06/2019 09:14

Does the lumea hurt?

MyNameIsCharlesII · 18/06/2019 13:09

It doesn’t hurt no. Occasionally it kind of stings a tiny bit but I’ve found that’s if there’s a bit of hair still remaining that I’ve not removed properly. It does get hot though but it’s def not painful.

I’ve done legs and bikini line but not actual undercarriage.

angrybird3 · 18/06/2019 13:14

Phillips Lumea vote here too - get an older model for less. Mine is at least 4 or 5 years old and works a treat. Tiny bit nippy in the fanjo region, but does the job. I'm lazy about using it, but I reckon monthly zap keeps the hair at bay (and that's just May - Sept for me, as I forget all about it during the winter).
