How is my hair both dry and greasy??

I have virtually stopped using conditioner as I am sick of washing my hair every day. If I leave the conditioner I can stretch to every other day.

However it is really dry and fluffy now!
It kind of separates itself out into strands rather than being in a chunk if that makes sense.

I don't use straighteners (although it looks much better if I do!) and I dry using the Babyliss Big Hair Care when it's almost dry so minimal damage.

I do dye my grey roots about once a month which probably doesn't help!

I don't know whether to use a deep conditioner which will help with the dryness, or keep trying to find a shampoo to help with the greasiness which appears after one day.

I've tried SLS free shampoos, no shampoo just conditioner, reverse washing, organic stuff, and I've also recently got dandruff (JOY!!) so last week tried some Head & Shoulders but not sure if that's helping or not, isn't yet but have only used it twice.

Also re the greasiness I've tried 'training' my hair to go longer but at my age you can't teach an old dog new tricks no matter how many days it's ponytailed!!!

Please help!

I had this problem op Sad there are shampoos and conditioners you can purchase for greasy roots and ends. I used a L'Oréal once and it was in a turquoise bottle. It did help a lot. I've found lately that I've reverted back to a teenager with greasy hair and greasy skin (in my 30s).

Kerastase Bain Divalent shampoo. It's for greasy roots and dry ends, and is fabulous stuff. Bit pricy, but you only need to use a little tiny blob, and there are often deals on duo packs available online. Allbeauty is quite good.

Will have a look for the L'Oréal one, thank you. Also definitely tried the Kerastase one in the past, I used the whole bottle and it didn't help Sad

I have found that using a shampoo with sulphates (perhaps an unpopular thing to do) and a conditioner without silicones to be the most helpful in managing my greasy, yet fluffy hair.
The latter is the most important part. If I accidentally use a conditioner with silicone my hair is an oil slick in less than 24 hours.
Not necessarily expensive ones. My current conditioner is a Sainsbury's own brand one.

Thank you 45 - maybe I'll try that combination!!
