New fringe - HATE it.

I don’t think I did agree to getting a fringe. The hairdresser suggesting ‘doing something around my face’ and suggested a long side fringe. and I thought why not. She cut a short fringe. I nearly burst into tears in the salon but instead said thank you and ran out.

DH keeps saying it is ‘fine’ but in reality I look like his mother. I keep telling myself it is just hair and it will grow but..I have slow growing hair and I know I will not be able to manage this. It is already frizzy! I’ve been searching online for ways to hide a fringe and they suggest using bobby pins but my fringe is so short, I would look deranged.

Help!!!

I think she forgot what she was doing until it was too late. Either that or she noticed the horror on my face. She kept saying 'yes yes a fringe is going to look good. I like cutting fringes because it keeps people coming back to us and keeps us in jobs'. I've been going there for years but never had that stylist before. Its a top end salon but I only go twice a year :(

I don't see the point of complaining when its done now. It can't be fixed until it grows but it will take a long time to grow as the rest of my hair is past my shoulders.

I know hairdressers can be stressful but in the nicest possible way, why didn’t you say something when the scissors were going towards your hair line? I know it’s not helpful now but if it happens again please shout up before it’s too late op. It does seem like people are scared to say anything to hairdressers, there are a lot of threads on the same topic. Fingers crossed for you that it grows quickly but in the meantime I would persevere with grips to pin it sideways

Thank you Solitude. They will work surely. I will buy them tomorrow. Thank you!!!!! I really hope my face isn't too plain to carry these off, I'm so used to having hair around my ears, it feels really weird.

I've been there

Groom eyebrows, wear lipstick or balm, and mascara

(Don't know what kind of face you have Grin mine is "two raisins in a bun" if I don't do the above, with my hair scraped back....)

I fucking hate hairdressers. They have ruined my hair on numerous occasions. Now I dye my own hair and my sister cuts it and betWeen us it looks great.

What about something like this minus the bow, hopefully it would be tight enough to hold your fringe back?

New fringe - HATE it.

I feel your pain. I had a fringe cut into my long nearly waist length hair. I looked like the love child of Noel Fielding and Claudia Winkleman. It will grow back. Eventually. 😳

This would work too, use hairspray on it before twisting it then use grips to keep it in place. This is what I did when I cut my own fringe Grin

Oops forgot to post the photo Blush

New fringe - HATE it.

Arghhh I feel you, ive worn head bands and pinned it bk

Namaste6 · 17/06/2019 22:24

I'm sure it's not that bad OP. Have you tried clipping your fringe to the side? Kind of trying to create the look of the fringe being longer and tucked behind your ears. Would that work?

SlipperOrchid · 17/06/2019 22:50

This made me burst out laughing :).

About tucking it behind my ears, it isn't long enough to cover my eyebrows never mind go behind my ears. The other thing is that it seems quite a 'wide' fringe so she has cut quite a bit off the sides of my hair as well to create this 'look', meaning there isn't hair to even put behind my ears :(

Heartofglass. I think I have similar hair elastics from the days of old when I actually used a gym! I suppose I could wear leggings and a tshirt and pretend I'm going to or coming from the gym for the next five months :)

Ok ok lol it was only a suggestion Grin I used to wear them and found them good for keeping my hair out the way!
The other pic should work though, as long as you start twisting from the shortest bit and do it tight!
