Just this really. Have cut down massively on alcohol, don’t really sunbathe and if I do go in the sun I use high spf sunscreen and I drink loads of water. Nothing has improved it so far and I am starting to have the complexion of an 80 year old alcoholic... help!

IPL laser and Soolantra for spots

stripes1 · 14/06/2019 11:57

Have you seen your GP? I’m on a low dose of antibiotics which has reduced the symptoms, if I stop taking them it gets worse again. I was also advised by GP to cut back in products on face so I just use the Clinique redness solutions face wash, no toner and E45 lotion plus a mineral spf factor 50 on top in the daytime. I never do face masks/scrubs etc. That has helped a bit as well plus I’ve stopped drinking red wine. But following for more ideas as none of that has completely cured it.

Is an IPL Laser like a Lumea? So a DIY treatment?

I think I might consider a visit to the GP if things don’t improve. I just felt I should try and sort it myself first I guess.

See your Gp and ask for Soolantra, it's so good on rosacea because it's specific to that problem. I still use it to keep mine at bay because I refuse to ever fill my stomach with endless antibiotics.

happybunny007 · 14/06/2019 12:26

Jan Marini glycolic facial followed by use of her glycolic products. Cured me. When I stop using them it returns.

teta · 14/06/2019 12:45

If the redness is caused by prominent veins the only thing that will help is ipl or laser. Spots can be helped by Soolantra. Facials and skin products won't reduce the redness caused by red vein clusters.
Rosacea is a progressive condition and can't be cured unfortunately and often runs in families.

IndistinctRadioChatter · 14/06/2019 12:48

Laser definitely. It’s not DIY and it’s not cheap but it got rid of mine for a good two years. Google IPL laser in your area and you will find plenty of options. It usually runs between £200-300 per treatment and you want 2-3 treatments.

accendo · 14/06/2019 12:49

Check out rosacea rescue on Facebook. They know everything.

SummersB · 14/06/2019 13:37

The redness isn’t down to bloodvessels, it’s just a big red patch on each cheek, like I’ve been slapped, and spots on top. Will definitely try Soolantra and also check out Facebook, thanks everyone!

Lymecycline (sp?)
No alcohol
No spicy food

I still have rosacea, but it's better.

JMAngel1 · 14/06/2019 16:07

Soolantra is life changing - you won't need anything else aside from IPL if you have broken capillaries.

Figgygal · 14/06/2019 16:11

Just following for tips as I have had it for years but just put up with it a lot of the time

Was using some rosacea specific cream from high street chemists but don't think made a difference

I find wearing make up to cover it makes it worse but thankfully don't wear it often

sheshootssheimplores · 14/06/2019 16:24

I agree that Soolantra should help your sub type. I have subtype 1 and there’s no treatment bar lasers for mine. The lasers didn’t work so I just have yo live with daily flushing.

Blueberryblueberry · 14/06/2019 16:52

Factor 50, if it's even slightly sunny. I use the gentlest cleansers/moisturisers - so cetaphil and diprobase for me, anything else irritates my face, and the main/only thing that actually improved it was antibiotics from the gp. Mine was pretty terrible and I wish I'd gone years ago. And make up- I think if you have rosacea it never really goes away completely unfortunately.

teta · 14/06/2019 17:49

I had ipl but it didn't work that well on the veins .It did reduce the generalised redness. I'm now having laser and that works .I just look like I've gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson .

zippyswife · 14/06/2019 17:52

Rosex prescribes by gp worked for me. And I only use avene products. It’s the only thing my skin can handle. I use spf no7 protect and perfect factor 50.
You’ll get a handle on it- soolantra is always recommended on here.

TeaKettleBell · 15/06/2019 00:34

What laser works?
I second soolantra! You can get it off the internet for £30.

CarpetDiem · 15/06/2019 01:56

Firstly what type of rosacea do you have? Type 1 is redness & flushing with minimal spots, aka vascular rosacea, responds well to laser and mirvaso cream, but be warned lots of reports of rebound flushing and it's available on prescription only. Type two is the spotty rosacea, caused by dermodex mites, responds v.v.v. Well to.... Horse paste applied to the face NOT taken internally which is how the horses take it. It can be bought online, the active ingredient is invermicin which kills the dermodex, use daily for 12 weeks. Can you tell I've got rosacea? Anyway, see your GP if it's affecting you but don't expect them to know much unless they have a special interest in dermatology, or request a dermatology referral from them. The invermicin (ingredient in horse paste) proper medical cream aka soolantra is expensive in the USA & not covered by all insurance, similarly in the UK not all CCGs will cover the cost, hence sufferers turning to the horse paste Blush emoji representative of my face

HappyMama101 · 15/06/2019 02:29

CBD oil might help alsoSmile putting a few drops all over the face of a night time and let it soak in.

CitadelsofScience · 15/06/2019 08:34

Carpetdiem have you not been referred to dermatology? I was and put on isotretinoin and my skin is lovely after one round of it. I'd happily do another if I need too.
