Desperately need help- wedding, size 16, post baby lumpy tum

Looking for some help from you lovely people please. I have to go to a family wedding in three weeks and I have nothing to wear. I'm crap at choosing clothes at the best of times, but post baby and exhausted I couldn't feel any less attractive. I'm short, 5'4", a size 16, although probably now my bum and hips are an 18. I do have a bit of a (relative) waist, but conscious anything which comes in then has to go out again over said big bum. Tum is also bigger than I'd like. And I hate my arms so not wearing anything with straps. High neck doesn't tend to look good.

What the hell do I do? I doubt whatever I get will get worn again so I don't want to spend much. So tempted to cry off and stay home with DS but it's not really an option.

I’m a 16 (although a little taller than you) and this dress was very flattering- sleeves too, low neckline. On sale too so cheap as chips!

I have this figure too OP. I stick to dresses that are thicker fabric of lined with a fit and flare shape. My fav is this one by Jolie Moi. They do the same shapes in lots of colours/prints. They're reduced on their website and you can get a further 10% off with a code on their site too.

I wear with control pants / Spanx / tights under if the dress needs if.

Or lined *

"I do have a bit of a (relative) waist, but conscious anything which comes in then has to go out again over said big bum. "

Just properly read this, so you might not like a fit and flare! Same site has lots of "straight down" dresses which you might prefer x

I've got this from asos - it comes in outburst prints if you search asos midi tea dress and it's in petite if you're worried about length. It's very skimming on my mum tum and a bargain in the sale! www.asos.com/prd/11043736

Fingermoose · 13/06/2019 17:08

*other prints not outburst!

I've also had some lovely dresses from Yumi - they have some nice shape dresses in their sale. Here's one from Debenhams

Or this is from their website - might be a good length if you're happy with your legs.

I think this is nice too but you may not like the print.

@LadyVox Thank you, I really like those sleeves and neckline. Might be a bit tight round the bum, but I'll try it.

@Dec2019mumtobe Thank you, that shape could be good, but I'm a little nervous about having arms out. Don't think I can use a wrap as I'll constantly be picking DS up, but if they do free returns I'll certainly try it.

@Fingermoose Thank you too. My chunky things are also not for public viewing, but as I'm shorter than the models, sometimes lengths can work. I do like that abstract pattern but not sure how it will look on. Can't hurt to try!

I have loads of Lindybop dresses - this is my favourite at the moment because I love the sleeves: www.lindybop.co.uk/lisette-blue.html

AiryFairyMum · 13/06/2019 18:53

I also have this one, and I love it because it looks great and has pockets www.lindybop.co.uk/bryony-scarlet-red-tea-dress.html - there's 10% off for new customers at the moment too.

AiryFairyMum · 13/06/2019 18:56

Last one I promise - I loved this when I was breastfeeding as it buttoned down the front. www.lindybop.co.uk/ivory-blue-textured-polka-dot-tea-dress.html

Check out a brand called Bombshell. Also, wrap dresses or anything with a peplum for the tum!

Dec2019mumtobe · 13/06/2019 19:41

@SurreyMumOfOne I hate my arms too. I wore a cardi in one of the colours off the dress. Just a cheapie from M&S but I think it looked nice 😊

Good luck with your search! Xx
