Rosacea advice.

Hi, I just wondered if anybody had much experience with treating rosacea. I had it approx three years ago first. Got prescribed rosex, it worked no more rosacea. This time it’s been building since Christmas. I get the bumpy type small hard bumps all over my face, sometimes pimple type swellings that go deeeeeep. The bumps leave mild scaring. So once I realised this was rosacea again I got rosex. It’s been working but this week it’s flared up while I’m still using the gel. It’s so annoying I’m using the gel, blepharitis eye wipes, la Roche Posay Rosaliac products. Like last time but nice new bumps coming daily now and lovely red patch under one eye. Grrrrrr. Broke protocol and had a curry on Friday. Could this be the culprit?

No advice but watching with interest as I’ve developed it too (hormone related I think) I have those bumps you’re talking about
Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon Smile

If you have the bumpy bits see your G.P. I didn’t know what I had until it had got pretty bad- people kept telling me it was hormonal, go took one look and knew it was rosacea. The first course I had worked a treat and my skin was absolutely perfect within a fortnight. This time I just can’t understand what I’m doing wrong.

Sorry that should say G.P. No go.

I think mine is a side effect of HRT so I’m not sure if anything can be done about it tbh

WouldHAVEcouldHAVEshouldHAVE · 06/06/2019 21:14

I’ve used the Rosaliac range and it didn’t make any difference. I really love Pai products and have just placed another order with them this evening although it kills me to spend £91 on bloody face stuff but I know it won’t upset my skin at all and actually makes it feel better.
Wish I could use any old stuff but so many ‘gentle’ cleansers make my skin flaky and sore.
It sucks having reactive skin, you have my sympathy.

Follow this page on fb. So from this page I’ve learnt that it is triggered by the mites in your face. We all have them but sufferers have more. Invermectin can be used to treat it and this can be found in horse dewormer which this group advocates putting on your face. They swear by it and there are some impressive before and after photos.

Sorry this page!

I wouldn't advise anyone to put horse dewormer on their faces🤦.
Use Soolantra - it's ivermectin for humans!

strongandlong · 06/06/2019 21:35

I second soolantra. It's made an amazing difference to my skin.

Before and after pics attached.

Wow that is impressive strong
Is it something you have to get on prescription?

MissMogwai · 06/06/2019 21:42

I came on to say Soolantra. It's cleared my skin in about 4 weeks. I had thick bumpy red pustules across my cheeks - all gone and my skins never looked better. 🎉🎉

Had to get it on prescription.

strongandlong · 06/06/2019 21:43

Yes. My gp wouldn't prescribe it (this was 3 or 4 years ago). I get it via pharmacy 2u.

I forget these days that it was ever that bad. It was so sore!

Quietlife333 · 06/06/2019 21:44

Strong-
I need that treatment. Is it prescription only? Yep I’ve read all about the lovely dermodex nite. Beautiful creatures. I liked the posay products last time so I thought I’d try them again. Realised my foundation has oil on which is a no no- so I went and got some cheap but seemingly oil free bourgois 123 stuff today. Realised I was using Mac longwear last time so I might swap back to that. Think I will go back to the gp next week.

I have tried all different medication on prescription, the only thing that consistently works for me and quickly is a thin layer of sudocrem each night.

holyshitballs · 06/06/2019 21:58

Wow strong, what an amazing difference, that's brilliant. My dermatologist prescribed me antibiotics for the last couple of months along with a topical cream at night. There is a big big difference, I've gone out without makeup! Also told to wear SPF everyday that has zinc in it..

Quietlife333 · 06/06/2019 21:59

Strong-
Can I ask, how long have the effects lasted after you used soolantra?

greatvengeanceandfuriousanger · 06/06/2019 22:11

I recommend Soolantra, it was life changing for me.

My GP wouldn't prescribe it so I was eventually referred to a dermatologist and they did. No other dietary changes, creams, ointments or antibiotics worked for me. You can order it online it costs £35ish.

It took about a month and my skin is still completely smooth 2 years later. I use it once a week as maintenance.

Quietlife333 · 06/06/2019 22:12

That is a dramatic change. Im going to ask G.P. Did your G.P. Say why they wouldn’t prescribe it?

OP posts:
strongandlong · 06/06/2019 22:13

I use it every other day. I could try cutting back actually. I'm a bit nervous about it coming back!

Lilmisskittykat · 06/06/2019 22:16

I was going to suggest Soolantra too... it really helped mine and it was getting very bad on my cheeks, big welts and really bumpy. Now I just have the redness to deal with which can be covered with make up so much better place to be...

I don't know that I'll be ever foundation free like I was a few years ago but it's a great improvement. I just use once twice a week now seems to work.

Quietlife333 · 06/06/2019 22:19

Thanks everyone, I’m going to ask G.P. for this next week. If they won’t prescribe I’m going to buy it to try.
