What to wear on a cruise- help!

Going on a cruise around Bahamas late November/early December. Sailing out from/into New York. Stopping at a few islands.
The ship isn’t mega formal, I.e. no requirement for a black tie do, but no idea what to pack! Is it going to be cold on the boat for the first and last day when we are near New York? And then hot when we get to Bahamas? What would be acceptable day wear/evening wear? Going with two small children so I need to be thinking and planning now whilst summer clothes are in the shops.
Any experience/suggestions welcome.
TIA

On holiday in the West Indies last year, there were often cruises visiting the island I was on, and from what we saw of some of them, the dress code was Waynetta's Saturday supermarket run in very hot weather. Obviously, I have no idea what they wore on board in the evenings and the ship you're on maybe rather smarter, but close to the cruise terminal, most of the shore rigs were unstylish.

I think John Lewis does cruisewear or someone like it. Have a look online. I think maybe casual for day and a bit dressier for evening. Some ttimes some ferry companies give a sort of guide I think.

Check your cruise line FAQ to see if it says anything about dress code, particularly for evenings. Anything other than formal nights I wear a nice dress or trousers and floaty top. Maxis with flat beaded sandals and nice jewellery are usually my go to's for evening and can be dressed down during the day.

Onboard during the day I knock around in shorts/t-shirts/crops/knee length dresses - anything casual. Same for onshore during the day. For NY I would be inclined to have jeans/trousers/jumper coat. Flat shoes/trainers for wandering around both onboard and on shore a must for me.

Enjoy your trip!

Your beginning and end of cruise clothes in NY can be much the same warmth as what you'd need to travel in the UK as the temperatures will usually be similar. Layers really.

For the Caribbean... During the day shorts/vests/t-shirts/light dresses for getting off the ship, swimwear for the pool/sunbathing, comfy sandals if you are likely to be doing any trips or walking.

In the evenings, if there is no formal dress code, I would go for dresses with heeled sandals or trousers/nice top. The sort of thing that you might wear if you were having dinner in a nice hotel/restaurant in the U.K. You could take a wrap/cardigan in case the air con is fierce.

Take jeans/trousers and layers for the NYC bit. Trainers and a warm jacket would be good - I have a lightweight down jacket that is warm but packs small. Landsend is a good place for jackets etc.
