What would you buy to complete your wardrobe?

This isn't a stealth boast or any other kind of boast , I've been given some money to spend specifically on clothes or shoes and accessories.

I've considered going to an in-store personal shopper but we live about 40 miles from the nearest one.
I'd also considered Lookiero or similar though the reviews aren't good.

Instead, oh wise people of Mumsnet I'm asking you.
For myself I would like to buy good quality but I'm interested in any suggestions.
I'm looking for inspiration.

Where are the gaps in your own wardrobe?
What would you add to it?
Or even what were the mistakes?

Thank you Thanks

I'm about the same Sigh81 but I don't have to spend it all right now.

Next list is my work clothes, I don't need anything much but I was thinking I would buy:

2 x pairs of leather work boots.
2 x pairs of leather flats.

3 or 4 dresses, probably from The Fold.

1 x blazer in a colour I don't already own --I've got a lot of blazers already.

2 or 3 light winter cardigans or jumpers that I can wear under blazers.

Any suggestions for 1 x casual and 1 x smart/casual dress for now?

Buy yourself a great Mac, long and swishy, but thin.... And a bag you really love to match...
More people see us in our coats and they should be in the sales as summer time

On the whole, the things I end up wearing the most are good basics that are "my style", quite timeless.

Well-fitting long and short sleeve t-shirts in black, navy, grey and a couple of colours that suit you and go with the rest of your wardrobe (for me it's teal, mustard and purple).

A couple of "mid-season" jackets - I have a tweed style GAP one I've had probably for 10 years and it's one of the most useful things to complete an outfit in late spring and early autumn (and sometimes summer when it's cold). Similarly a slightly longer, open-fronted navy H&M coat/jacket gets worn a lot when I need to throw on something that can look casual or smart and goes with almost any outfit.

Black cardigans - I have a cropped one from Boden that goes with dresses, and a longer one that goes with almost everything.

A good pair of trousers or jeans in a dark colour (navy/grey/black) that go with most of your tops and suit your lifestyle (so could be smarter or very casual).

mummy2017 I've ordered this. It isn't long and swishy, that's intentional on my part.
Also, I wanted a mac that was a darker beige.

As for other mid season jackets?
I already own; a denim jacket, 2 leather jackets, a navy mac, a lightweight, waterproof jacket and an old Barbour wax jacket.
There are a few pac a mac type things in the utility with our wellies and cold weather spares.

I like the sound of the tweed style Gap jacket viccat.

Nice Mac ...
Now for a bag.

BeCoolYolande · 01/06/2019 22:37

This Fossil bag in Henna because cramming my work laptop in my handbag is killing my shoulders
Fossil backpack
I'm not sure whether the colour will go with the Uniqlo mac but fear not!
I've bought a small, black Bayswater.

To anyone reading this thinking they want to punch me because this sounds like I'm the worst kind of consumerist arse or that I'm stealth boasting but without the stealth; I can say honestly that not so many lifetimes ago I was homeless and penniless.
I've worked hard, we have savings, regularly donate time & money to charity, have given money to our DCs. Recently we have come into some money.
We've decided to save some and spend some.

Together we're going to have 2 or 3 big holidays.
DH's spend his choice is just as frivolous as mine.

An amazing quality classic style wool coat
Perfect black heels
Good quality boots

I second a good tweed jacket. You instantly look put together and as if you have made an effort, plus it’s just the right thing for autumn/early winter. I also love a good cape and need at least one more, probably too.

Love the Mac you bought. A red bag would complement it perfectly. Everyone should have at least three bags - red, black and tan. Or if you mainly wear navy as a neutral burgundy or oxblood would go beautifully instead of black.

Gah *probably two

More Prima Donna bras. Good underwear makes everything else look better.

A good mac. I had an Aquascutum one I loved years ago, with a wool lining so it was pretty warm.
