has anyone tried their local college for beauty treatments? I have looked at the price list for my local one and the prices are incredibly good value, just recently I have felt increasingly ripped off by local salons and thought going to the college might be a good idea, I just wondered if the students are 'monitored' during treatments? if so, I think I will give it a go, £12 for a gel manicure Shock bloody amazing!

I have had nails, pedicure and facials at my local college. The students are monitored more during their earlier years (ie first year students) and if you aren't happy they will re do them. I've never had anything redone but I've heard someone complaining.
Its worth a punt if salans at full price are ripping you off.

I teach in an FE college and our beauty department has an amazing salon. The students are closely monitored and teaching staff always on hand. We are just in final exams and soon finishing up for summer ho,udays, so it might not be the best time to go.

thanks for the comments, I think I will give them a ring next week and give it a try, I like the sound of a full body massage for £15 Shock I think the last one I had was about £75!

Yes go! I used it many times. Real bargains.

If there’s a training restaurant in the college try that to!

My sister studied beauty therapy, most of the family got roped in as guinea-pigs so she could get everything signed off. From what I can remember I had luxury manicure, leg waxing and eyebrow tint and reshape over the course of the year. The products they used weren't high end and for the manicure it was just a single colour, nothing fancy but that probably differs between colleges. They're learning so sometimes they'll do the same thing but using different techniques, she used two different buffers during the manicure and two different waxes for the waxing so it won't be as quick but then you aren't paying professional prices. During the waxing her tutor came over to adjust her technique and there was a difference between how much quicker and less painful her tutor was, not too big a deal but I noticed it. Probably doesn't help I was family and we've always had a slightly antagonistic relationship, she did say she took more care with the public. Best time is definitely at the end of the school year when they've had the most practise, around this time they're normally running round trying to find people to get the last thing signed off, usually stuff like chin waxing that not everyone needs doing.
