Anyone tried a personal shopper subscription eg Lookiero?

Ads for these things - where you fill out some info on your style preferences etc and then get sent a selection of clothes which you buy or send back - keep popping up on my phone. They look good in theory, and I could really use some fashion guidance, but are they any cop? Has anyone tried any of these services?

I have signed up. I didn't really fill my profile out properly so the first package I received was not to my taste.
When I returned the items, I commented on what type of things I was looking for and the second package was fantastic. I loved all the clothes and I love the cards they enclosed that show how to wear the pieces with other things. Returns are so easy. I recommend them and I look forward to receiving my monthly box.

I tried lookiero. Wasn't expecting much but i was really impressed. Kept everything in the box. I only used it once but plan to do so again once I've shifted some weight.

Just signed up to try Stitchfix. Am thinking I shouldn't have but we'll see... first box arrives next week.

DramaRamaLlama · 30/05/2019 11:57

Thanks be been tempted - would be really interested in feedback

I tried it this week and was really underwhelmed by what they'd chosen for me so it has all gone back. To be fair, there were a couple of things I quite liked, but not enough to spend the money on them rather than something else.

I’ve literally just signed up to StitchFix so I’m interested to hear what the difference is between the two (and if people think they’re any good). Only just heard of Lookiero, I guess because I clicked on the StitchFix facebook ad!

I had my first Lookiero box a couple of weeks ago. Mixed feelings - the clothes were nice enough but absolutely nothing fitted properly!

I think it's a great idea in theory and will try another couple of boxes but I imagine it's going to be very hit-and-miss.

BrieAndChilli · 03/06/2019 20:10

How much does a box typically cost?

Papayasoup · 04/06/2019 15:25

I can’t comment on Lookiero but my OH and I tried Stitchfix during their soft launch about a month ago (it was for friends and family and they credited the stying fee as they were trying to make sure all worked well. My sister works there but apart from then I don’t get any discount so this is my honest view and the same feedback I gave her Grin). I was a bit sceptical but was pleasantly surprised. OH kept 3 of the 5 pieces and was pleased on price/quality. I kept a couple but get my next one next week and am looking forward to it being more bang on. They do say the more information you provide the better it is and that is certainly what I learnt from the first time. In terms of brands it was some I knew and some I didn’t and actually the ones I discovered were the ones I liked the most.
In terms of cost, you pay a styling cost (£10) but that gets deducted if you keep any items.

Just looked at both of them, Lookiero I didn't fit any of the four looks they asked you to choose from as to what you wear out of work, so I fell at the first hurdle. Stitch fix they asked you to choose what you liked best e.g. tight or loose clothing, but I wanted to say both, and then I just didn't like their language ("flaunting" your body) so I guess it's just not aimed at a grumpy 50 year old! I've heard about these on American podcasts so it's interesting to know they're over here too now.

iloveruby · 04/06/2019 20:27

I've had one box from lookerio and was so impressed! Everything fitted (and I really struggle to find clothes that fit) and I kept everything.

You get a 25% discount if you dont return anything which makes it even better!

iloveruby · 04/06/2019 20:30

You do need to take your time when setting up your profile though - but to be honest why would you subscribe to a personal shopping service and not complete the profile properly Confused

Papayasoup · 07/06/2019 17:48

Thought I’d report back now that I’ve received my second box from Stitch Fix. Been really pleased with the selection, definitely keeping 3 hesitating about the other 2. But if you keep all you get 20% off so may well keep all as in effect one will be free.
I spent a lot more time this time describing my style in words and that has made this box better. I felt the stylist took that on board which was reflected in the note I got and the outfit suggestion card. I was still pushed a bit out of my comfort zone with colours, but on my profile I had said I was open to trying new things. My feedback from the previous time was also incorporated. For example I’d said last time that for a wardrobe basic I’d generally not spend as much, nor was that what I needed, so this time there were less of these basics but also still within my budget.

Stitchfix box was awful. Most expensive item was a £60 polyester blouse - French connection, style looked ok but it fitted really badly on. Quite a nice white linen skirt and a dull but fine stripey navy and cream t-shirt. And another polyester top and £35 mango trousers - I like mango for reasonable 'fillers' but these were not great. Thin material and very unflattering (I'm a size 10 pear shape, which I told them). I shall not be doing it again!

Forgive me for reviving a somewhat old thread, but what's the experience now, six months on? I'm torn between StitchFix and Lookiero...
