Foundation for dry skin

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 30/05/2019 09:44

My skin is ridiculously dry. I do use moisturiser. Not sure whether I need a different foundation or a different moisturiser? Or both.

Maybe a timer moisturiser would be nice

Just bumping this thread for you, OP. (Because I'd also like some ideas!) Smile

Anyone? Grin

My skin is dry and most foundations were making my skin look scaly and the foundation was breaking up. I started using Clinique Moisture Surge moisturiser and have been able to use any foundation with no problems since!

TheCanterburyWhales · 30/05/2019 14:14

I have dry skin and use and like:
YSL Teint Éclat
L'Oreal pro-glow

I'm keen to try the new Clinique Even Better (refresh) but they've never got it in my shade. Was reading good things about both the new Max Factor, the new n7 and the CYO range as well.

Another vote for L'Oréal pro glo (you can only buy it online though).

You might want to look at hyaluronic acid and polyglutamic acid under your moisturiser as well - both designed to hold moisture in the skin

NARS sheer glow is nice. I am using Chanel water fresh tint at the moment though and love it. I thought it would just be for super hot days when I bought it as it’s low coverage and I'm not very confident in my looks but it make my skin look lovely because it’s so hydrating.

BeckyAnnLeeman · 30/05/2019 14:22

it contains hyaluronic acid

jenthelibrarian · 30/05/2019 14:25

No 7 has a BB cream for dry-very dry skin, but only in 'fair'. If the colour's OK for you it is good.

I have the no 7 Stay Perfect superlight foundation and have heard good things about their HydraLuminous Moisturising Foundation which is billed as a medium coverage. I prefer something lighter myself though.

I was recently trawling through all the online reviews for just this [dry skin foundation] and got a recommendation for a primer from M&S.
It's Autograph, the one called Hydrating Confidence Boost primer.
I just got it 20% off with an online offer. I've only used it once, but liked it.

I’m currently pregnant & although I usually have normal skin, pregnancy has given me terrible dry patches on my face. Just awful. I started using Clinique Moisture Surge & it’s made a huge difference. The patches are gone & my makeup goes on much better than even before pregnancy. Within a day of using it I was getting compliments on my “glowing” skin

DawgLover · 30/05/2019 14:30

The IT cosmetics cream is amazing, but can be pricey compared to high street brands. I love it though, its like a higher coverage tinted moisturizer.

Pixi also do a good tinted moisturizer that is buildable for coverage.

Right now I'm using the neutrogena serum before moisturizer and a dot of welleda akin food as a primer and my skin looks really dewy.

beepbeeprichie · 30/05/2019 16:12

Do you use a primer? My skin is also very dry and I use the smashbox primer oil. Gives my skin a drink and helps the foundation not stick to dry bits!

DuchessDumbarton · 30/05/2019 18:36

Second BeckyAnn's recommendation re Clinique Even Better Refresh.

Sali Hughes gave it a good review in Guardian....I went in and found a nice assistant on Clinique counter who colour matched me, gave me a sample (currently on day 4 using it and I'm about half way through sample).
She also kindly gave me samples of their overnight moisture mask and day time moisturiser.

Am I a convert....not 100% sure if I would flee from Clarins but it might be nice to have on rotation. Quite full coverage.

I catch myself in car mirror and notice that my skin is glowing and still good coverage on a busy busy day...

lovehasadiameter · 30/05/2019 18:59

Another vote for YSL teint eclat. It is the only foundation I've tried that doesn't look flaky and patchy after a couple of hours!

Xxalisoncxx · 30/05/2019 20:45

If your acne prone like myself and my mum, I would give the new Clinique a miss, it broke us both out terribly. I love the even better glow by Clinique and I have acne/dry skin- sound amazing don’t i? X
