Birkenstock’s breaking??

I’ve had my first pair for a couple of months. Bought direct from birks. I got them wet and the top layer of the footbed is now loose. Still attached at the sides all round but def loose, as if the glue has come unstuck. It’s like it’s bubbling up and I can press is back down. Has this ever happened to anyone? I’m afraid they’re going to get worse or become uncomfortable etc

I've been caught in the rain with most of mine at some point. It's never caused any damage. Have yours been really soaked?

Rooftree · 25/05/2019 21:00

No not soaked. It’s weird isn’t it. They’re the soft footbed ones which I understand have another layer in the footbed so I wonder if that might be an issue, ie one more layer to stay stuck, or in my case not! Annoying.

Tweet Birkenstock customer service and ask for advice on there. Is it both of them or just one?

Rooftree · 25/05/2019 21:08

I think I will thanks. Just one at the moment. It’s got a bit better now it’s dry but def still not glued down properly

If it's just one I'd imagine it's nothing you've done, but a fault. Tweet them or email and complain. Hope you get it sorted.

Citizen's Advice can help
www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/somethings-gone-wrong-with-a-purchase/return-faulty-goods/. Scroll down and click on "Start" to get information specific to your situation.

Generally, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if goods break within the first 6 months, it's assumed that they were defective, unless the seller can prove otherwise. You have the right to have the goods repaired or replaced free of charge, or if this turns out to be too difficult or costly, you may be offered a price reduction (on your original purchase) or your money back.

Gorjus · 25/05/2019 22:54

If that's too much hassle, a hot glue gun may be an easier solution Wink

I got a previous pair seriously wet (think walking on the beach near the sea) and they started crumbling.

Rooftree · 26/05/2019 14:12

Wow that’s awful goose! I’ve heard so much about the lasting for years that this is disappointing. I’ll see what birks customer service come back with
