Skin care help please

My skin is in quite dire need of help, please, as am I.

It has been sadly neglected for a good while, and I'm looking to spending a few minutes a day to treat it, but I'm not sure what products I need, what order to put them on, and what products are best.

I have invested in some superdrug glycolic acid wipes and overnight face peel, and my skin looks a bit better, so is there other things I should be using? (Have also bought lacura day and night cream)

Also confused because the wipes say to use on clean skin, as I thought they were to cleanse the skin!

My problems are tiny blackheads, also large, uncomfortable pimples which seem to appear when I'm stressed, and a few deep wrinkles. (Also hairy, but I guess that's for another thread!)

The tiny blackheads are most likely to be sebaceous filaments.

Ah yes, I was reading a thread about those a while back, and how oil can help get them out.
I do think mine are blackheads though: they are on the 'edges' of my face that have probably had even less attention than the of it!

My skin just looks dull, lumpy and neglected, frankly, a bit like the rest of me. Blush

The glycolic wipes are to exfoliate so you want to use them on clean skin. Acid toning (your glycolic wipes) really makes a difference. Use a cream cleanser and an old fashioned flannel to clean your face first and you should see a difference in a couple of weeks.

There's a cleansing thread near the top of the S&B board now which you might find helpful. And Caroline Hirons has a wealth of skin improving info on her website (look at the cheat sheets for starters).

The night time cleansing routine thread

Stop using wipes to cleanse is a good start.

Cleanser is a must.

If you wear makeup, cleanse twice.

So remove makeup on first cleanse, and then residual on second.

Then it's acids moisturisers etc.

But the cleansing is the most important part.

Thank you all.
I'll have a look at those threads, and hopefully understand what goes where. Smile

Elemis is expensive but I've found it worth the investment. Most skin care specialists hugely advise against make up wipes. If you wear make up double cleanse. Then toner followed by an oil or night/day cream. Good luck, it can be tricky finding what works for you but it's worth it in the end x

You can buy black head remover plasters that work

It sounds like you may need some antibiotics. My dd unfortunately, is having to take them for her skin as it's flared up during a stressful time. I wouldn't advise putting anything harsh on it, if spots are red and inflamed.
Depending on your budget it might be worth going to gp first, then going to a clarins counter or going for a facial and getting some professional advice and using tailored products suited for your skin.

Thanks all.
I shall check out all suggestions, maybe going back to my gp about the big bugger pimples too.
