Spent ages pondering which self tan to buy... I’m usually a dove or st Moritz girl Blush
Thought I’d splurge on something abit more expensive... please tell me I’ve not wasted my money!?

I wonder if I can cancel my order? ...😬

I'm interested to see if anyone replies as I'm in the market for a new tan

Unburnished · 25/05/2019 20:43

I used to use it. It always had a green tinge on me though so I use Skinny Tan or Vita Librata now. Bondi Sands is good too if youre blonde/blue.

OhShitItsAMouse · 25/05/2019 20:55

Oh god... green tinge?!

I was debating between all of the ones you mentioned... why did I pick fake bake? 😭

Not used Fake Bake, but I've used Skinny tan. I really like it. My skin type isn't other fake tan friendly but Skinny tan is great and doesn't go on streaky or orange.

OhShitItsAMouse · 25/05/2019 21:17

Right... I’m adding of all these to my list. I’ll have to try them all one by one in the quest to find my perfect tan! ...this is going to cost me fortune!

I love Fake Bake flawless.

The 'green' tinge is to produce an olive-y type hue to your skin - rather than orange.
It applies to the skin so well, smells lovely (like coconut - no real hint of biscuit) and lasts well.

The colour is really natural and buildable. Although one coat gives a lovely sun kissed colour - two is 'a fortnight in Barbados'
Fades easily too and doesn't streak.

No colour transfer to sheets/clothing either.

Tans to try also...

  • Bondi Sands liquid gold gradual tan.
  • He-Shi 1 hour rapid tan
  • St Tropez express tan
  • Tanologist Self Tan 'water'
  • Vita Liberata invisi foam
  • Jamie Genevive (sp?) UTAN CBD tanning water

I could go on about fake tan forever. I have a whole cupboard dedicated to it.

Unburnished · 25/05/2019 21:26

what’s your skin tone and colouring OP? That will influence the outcome of whichever tan you choose. I find the best (darkest/even) colour on me is Bondi Sands but it wears off patchy. Skinny Tan wears off beautifully but the colour isnt as good.

JaG789 · 25/05/2019 21:37

I use the darker version, I love it! Have tried other ones for a change but always end up back to this one.

OhShitItsAMouse · 25/05/2019 21:42

Oh thanks everyone... i guess I just need to try it and see if it suits me!

I’m fair haired, blue eyes. Pale skin with a reddish tinge I’d say.... especially in the face Blush
Dove and st moritz seem to work ok on me but I wanted something with a bit more oompft.

Has anyone tried Tanology? Did you like it?

I got itchy skin from Bondi Sands which was sad but my skin is annoyingly sensitive so I'm on the lookout for a new fake tan.

Unburnished · 25/05/2019 22:02

Ah, in that case youre like me. Try Bondi Sands Express Foam. Beautiful colour - real depth.

OhShitItsAMouse · 25/05/2019 22:08

Thanks @Unburnished will definitely give that one a try!
I’ll give the fake bake a whirl seeing as I’ve bought it... hopefully I won’t end up looking like the hulk 🤞

Green will only usually be a tinge on the guide colour unless you have a very bad reaction with your skin but you'd have had it with other tans if that were the case. I've had St Tropez and St Moritz go green in bottles which have been abandoned/ forgotten about. The expensive tan (Tropez) will just wash off the green guide but leave a far inferior tan to that if it hadn't gone green but the cheap (Moritz) will leave a slightly grey tinge. If more high end tans are green when they arrive (drop a bit into a white sink and see the colour as it runs down) they're a dodgy batch or fake depending where you've bought them. The 'dark' versions of Fake Bake/ St Tropez etc go green quicker but should still leave a bit of tan.

Unburnished · 26/05/2019 00:34

Tans have base colours. They are; yellow, red, green, violet, brown and blue/black. The tone you choose should compliment your skin tone (cool/warm/neutral) and shade (light/dark).

Ellapaella · 27/05/2019 16:40

I love fake bake tan. They do the best spray tan which goes an olive colour rather than orange and lasts for ages without going patchy.
As someone who has tried virtually every brand going I can also highly recommend Bondi Sands, in particular the spray oil (goes on beautifully, no streaks or patches and doesn't smell strange) but all their products are brilliant. The Bondi Sands gradual tan mousse is amazing - gives a lovely subtle golden glow.

Is this the moment to mention that a quick scrub over with an exfoliating mitten is a necessary prep to get a good result?
