Interview outfits

I have a couple of interviews coming up for graduate jobs and can't find anything to wear!! I'm 23, size 18, wear a 38G bra and I'm quite tall (5ft 9). I don't currently have anything, don't have a massive budget but need an outfit or two that I feel confident in. The only shoes I have are black brogues, but I could buy others if needed... for shoes I have size 8 wide feet. Please can anybody help me, it's not a wardrobe style I have any experience in and I don't want to feel like I've got it wrong. Thank you!!

I think it would depend on the field you are being considered for. A textile design company or modern art gallery might expect a different outfit to a law firm or landscape gardeners.

Sorry, it's a range of roles and industries I'm applying for. All would require a smart interview outfit but not just a white shirt and blazer. One of them is a role in a posh hotel events team, another is as an account manager for a manufacturing company.

I think simple with colour is the answer here. Also choosing what you're comfortable in. Are you a dress or trouser person? If dress I would suggest a simple straight column dress with a coloured jacket and bold jewellery. If a trouser person I would suggest black well fitting trousers, bright vest top and contrasting jacket. Shoes I would suggest heels, not high but just something crisp. I hire quite frequently and I just want people to look efficient and crisp. Interesting jewellery (not expensive just suggestive of someone who pays attention to detail, for men this could be cufflinks or a watch). Fussy clothing makes me think the person will be distracted and late - no proof for this!!

Perfect advice above

Great advice Tipsey . The only thing I would add - make sure the colours suit you and you will look ‘right’ .

Thank you- it's great to hear from someone who actually does the hiring as I don't want to make a bad first impression. I like dresses or trousers so I'll have a look and see what I can find!
