Sandal help! Are these ugly??

Trying to find a pair of all purpose sandals for the summer. Ideally they need to be sturdy and flat enough to walk the dog and run around after the kids but ok to wear with a summer dress for a BBQ or lunch with the girls.

I have small narrow feet and so Birkenstock's are out as I just walk out of them. Not keen on flip flops either as my feet are small the toe posts tend to rub. I also don't want something with closed toes.

I found these from toms which seem to fit the bill but when I showed them to DH he said "old ladies style" He's now backtracking and saying their fine but has set the doubt on my mind.

For what it's worth I'm 38 and not very fashionable. I tend to wear Fat Face, Joules, Boden and Gap. I'm currently on maternity leave so don't really want to go over the £40 mark.

Are these really that bad?!? Help!

I really like them x

SpamChaudFroid · 23/05/2019 20:41

They wouldn't be my first choice, I think these ones from Toms are lovely though.

kbPOW · 23/05/2019 20:42

I like them OP!

Aquamarine1029 · 23/05/2019 20:44

I really don't think the cork platform is good for lots of walking. They can also cause a turned ankle. I like them, but not for everything you want them for.

maxiflump1 · 23/05/2019 20:50

Thanks for the positive replies so far! @Aquamarine1029 I did worry about the height. Think I will have to go and find a stockist and try them on.

I know they're Toms but if I saw them on you, I think they would age you beyond 38. Sorry.

Aquamarine1029 · 23/05/2019 21:19

I think they would be great for BBQ's and light running around. But not for dog walking and running after the children.

Fairylea · 23/05/2019 21:21

I came across these yesterday which are somewhat similar - www.next.co.uk/g90100s1#305045

They have a comfort cushioned sole so probably better for lots of walking.

Fairylea · 23/05/2019 21:23

Sorry that link goes to the rose gold ones, the ochre or tan ish ones are nicer I think.

maxiflump1 · 23/05/2019 22:07

Ohhh I like those in blue @Fairylea. Little trip to next tomorrow I think! Thank you!

Might be too pricey but fly London have some nice comfy sandals. You can also get birks with an ankle strap - my kids have narrow small feet and are fine in them. Sensible sandals can look frumpy or funky depending on the wearer in my opinion. I quite like the ones you have posted.

"Ideally they need to be sturdy and flat enough to walk the dog and run around after the kids but ok to wear with a summer dress for a BBQ or lunch with the girls."

Sorry but I really don't think you can get both together. It's one or the other. For walking the dog and running after the kids you could try Tevas (some of them aren't bad looking) and for BBQs and lunch dates I would get something more stylish.

BlythesEyes · 24/05/2019 00:08

I have these in a coral colour and could wear them all day every day. They are very comfortable. I think they are stylish obviously Grin

Ooh yes, Tevas, comfy AF. I just bought these ones from free People.

Yes OP I agree they are ugly. Sorry.

They do look comfy though.

Herja · 24/05/2019 08:38

I like them. I wear saltwater and birkenstocks though, and most people seem to think they're fugly...

Ellapaella · 24/05/2019 09:20

I like the ones @Fairylea has posted even better op - in fact I'm tempted to get the rose gold ones myself.
