Sparkly stone, alternative to diamonds?

Can anyone recommend anything for a slim wedding / eternity band? Something sparkly but without conflict or Debeers hype. I wanted tanzanite but several places within the jewellery quarter have advised me that small stones would lose too much of the colour so I wouldn't be happy with what I got and I don't want a wide band.

If I can't have that then I fancy something delicate but sparkly so please show me yours or let me know of and reasonably priced gems you'd recommend.

I have a earring from this place and the simulated diamond looks quite nice. Not sure if you are looking for something more precious

I like looking at bling to pass time during my commute :)

Thank you stayfit. Please, send more links!
I'd seen the second one so that's a possibility. I'll have a look at the first website tomorrow.

The second link one looks nice but in my experience gold plate just wears off.

Have a look at moissanite. As hard as diamonds but man made and a fraction of the cost. There's a seller on Etsy called Rare Earth who does some lovely things.

The brilliantinc is £120.
Look on QVC ( they do a CZ brad Diamonique and have been selling this over 20 years in the UK, longer in USA)
Go for a fine band, in silver , Platinum or Rodium plate you cannot tell the diffference.
And far far less.
I have returned very few items . I have a similar eternity ( Andrea McLean) and a pave set very like the Etoile from Tiffany (in style , obviously just silver+CZ)
Stay away from the Tova and Michele Mone if you want subtle Grin

I'd probably go for the silver one flyinggeese as my other jewellery is white gold or silver.

Will look at moissanite daffodil, I'm uk based and need the ring pretty quickly so shipping from the US isn't possible for this one.

blythes, I think I've found several future birthday presents on that website, thank you Grin

Would cz not fade or go cloudy over time 70?. Its not just for occasional wear so I'd hate for it to start looking shabby after a short time.

I have a horribly expensive engagement ring which I'm too scared to wear as I am clumsy, forgetful etc, so it lives in the safe.

I wear a silver QVC Diamonique ring instead thats really similar and was about £40 and looks amazing! The stones don't fade at all in my experience.

Look at some of these from QVC, some are so pretty!!

pinegreen · 24/05/2019 10:16

I bought some CZ studs from Carat to check what size I liked before buying the real thing. I was surprised how quickly they faded and become dull and cloudy, and they didn’t improve when I put them in my ultrasonic jewellery cleaner.

I’m not sure how well CZ would survive on an eternity ring. Moissonite is best or you could also try white sapphires, but they will not sparkle as well as diamond.

BigusBumus · 24/05/2019 10:20

My QVC Diamonique ring is definitely not going cloudy (about 5 years old). I give it a clean with an old toothbrush and toothpaste once a week as the cloudiness tends to be dirt and handcream etc. Brings it up like new again.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/05/2019 10:31

No clouding from my Diamonique . I like the Platinum plated because its less bright than silver , all silver will tarnish a bit but it cleans up really well.

I think there's a 1 year guarentee on jewellery but don't quote me Smile

Anyone knows how strong white sapphires are?

Lexilooo · 24/05/2019 13:20

You can get conflict free diamonds without the debeers price tag in the jewellery quarter. For the sizes you need in a slender eternity ring it wouldn't be very expensive. Or you could consider second-hand, I have a second hand gold and diamond eternity ring, once it had a good clean it looked great.

Alternatively what about sapphire emerald or ruby? They all sparkle when cut well and used to be seen frequently in eternity rings so work in that setting. They have become less common due to changing fashion so you might get a second-hand bargain.

I wouldn't pay much for a CZ ring as they do lose their sparkle. Fine for cheap costume jewellery but not for a long term daily wear item.

Orangesox · 24/05/2019 13:22

Moissanite for sure! My engagement ring, wedding ring and matching pendant are all Moissanite due to ethical concerns. Marvellous quality, always well admired!

Available with swift delivery from www.moissanite.co.uk/ or Very

I wish QVC had some of those skinny rings in a size I or H Sad

PencereTencere · 24/05/2019 13:46

@stayfit - My engagement ring has a white sapphire solitaire, chosen because it was fairtrade. I've had it 7 years and it still looks lovely. Not as shiny as a diamond, but really beautiful.

pinegreen · 24/05/2019 13:51

Sapphires are tough, second only to diamonds (along with rubies).

poppym12 · 24/05/2019 16:43

Thank you for the input. Plenty of different ones to consider now.
