Mum Tum Vs Swimwear

I'm going on holiday at the end of June with a friend, 4 days of sun, swimming and no children!

However I need to buy new swimwear. All I currently have are boring black swimsuits, or bikinis from before I had my DD. I need help from MN to find me something that is flattering, whilst at the same time not looking frumpy and sad.

I've recently lost 1.5 stone so feeling quite good about that, but I still carry all my weight on my middle. I also had a c-section so have the ever attractive "apron" to contend with. My normal pants always fall down and sit until the apron, which is just deeply unattractive.

I'm a size 10/12 and in my mid thirties and tan well. Can anyone help??

I have just bought a couple of really nice ones from next with tummy control. I have the same csection pouch issue going on!
I have also previously had success with Debenhams and m&s for decent swimwear that keeps your tummy in a bit.

WeeDangerousSpike · 23/05/2019 10:06

Try a miracle suit. They supposedly make you look a size smaller.

I tried one on very sceptically and was amazed. So so flattering. They aren't cheap though.

Musicalstatues · 23/05/2019 10:08

This was one and this is the other. I got these in store but looking online they seem to have a really good selection!!

WeedsAndMoss · 23/05/2019 10:09

Tesco have a surprisingly good range of tummy flattering suits

MissusDave · 23/05/2019 10:09

What sort of thing are you after? A one piece? Two piece? I struggle a bit because I am quite busty (well, according to high street store anyway) and have a long body, so I had the fun decision of tummy control swimsuit with lots of cleavage or a tankini with the risk of flashing my tummy! In the end I opted for a tankini with high rise tummy control briefs which I found was a good option for me. If you want to tan and you're braver than me you could try a bikini with a high rise brief. I have seen some really nice ones, I just need to work up the nerve to actually wear them!

Something like this?

Also... what's your budget? Love an excuse to browse online and dream of holidays!

You will have a lot more choice if you don't have the "boob issue" I'm sure Grin

GoodCow · 23/05/2019 11:52

Either a one or two piece. I always used to wear bikinis on holiday but am feeling self conscious of my stomach now but then, hey I'm on holiday, who cares!

Budget of around £40 I'd say. Fairly average in the boob area now, downside of losing weight!

Will check out the high rise bottoms!

Amazon (strangely!) have amazing high rise bikinis, I am the same size as you and also have a c section pouch, and they have made me feel so confident. Search for “high waist retro bikini” and size up - I got xl but do have large boobs (not a boast, they annoy me)

sanitygirl · 23/05/2019 12:23

I ordered this from Boden for my holiday and like it a lot. It has good tummy control www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/eros-swimsuit-red-leaf/sty-s0051-red

myusernameisnotmyusername · 23/05/2019 12:28

I also ordered swimsuits from Biden for my holiday last year and I felt much more confident than I thought I'd be.

Drogosnextwife · 23/05/2019 12:29

I have this from amazon. This one doesn't have much tummy control but its a good cover up and £8, you can't go wrong Grin

Oooh, I'm liking the Amazon ones, thanks Shetland!

No problem, I ordered one, loved it and then ordered two more.

LittleMy77 · 23/05/2019 18:54

M&S currently has a great range of tummy control one piece and bikinis, and they're really reasonably priced. Some nice prints and good design, plus the material isn't too thick (was an issue in their older costumes) so dries quick

MissusDave · 23/05/2019 21:09

Ooh the Amazon ones look nice! What are they like for boob support? (I'm a 32G it's a bit of a nuisance for underwear and swimwear) Also - important question for those of us who holiday with toddlers - are they sturdy enough to withstand being grabbed/kicked/etc? I've had some near misses with my current swimwear...

Shetlandponyranger · 24/05/2019 12:01

They are decent, I have a 34E chest and feel confident and covered in them. The straps can be hoicked up and tied firmly.

Macarena1990 · 24/05/2019 14:53

I have the same stomach issue and find that high waisted bikinis make me look huge. I am going to get some of the roll down bikini bottoms from next/m&s so I can adjust them to the most flattering height!
