If you had a mum tum what kind of dress would you go for?

I've started a new job. I have quite a prominent tum due to babies and Diastis Recti so can still look like I'm 6mo pregnant.

Previously I could wear dresses comfortably as was hour glass shaped and now I'm not and I want to wear a dress or three when the sun is shining however I want to be able to wear a dress where I don't strain my tummy muscles by having to spend the day sucking my gut in! Even Spanx can't help me.

I'm not sure what style of dress or where to even start looking. Would love some pointers/advice.

Tell us more about your proportions, colouring, style etc. Is your new job formal or casual?

Empire line dresses are good for disguising a tum.

I do not believe that spanx can't help

I'm average height and have lost my waist due to weight gain. Decent bust.

Spanx make my saddle bags bulge below where the Spanx sit on my butt if that makes sense.

I'm medium tone with mouse brown/blonde hair.

Thanks Wild. I like those dresses. I will order them and see what they look like on. I'll look for Empire line. Is that the equivalent of an A line skirt?

Couldn't get the middle link to work.....

I’m a 12 and normally go for an aline. All my weight goes on my tum, but I’ve just bought and worn a linen shift dress (more fitted but not tight) and I love it! It’s so flattering. Bought it in next and think I might go back and buy another colour!

I have that diastis recti thing and I've found dresses that ruche / gather under the bust or at the waist can look very 'maternity wear' and emphasise the tummy. I go for dresses that skim over everything rather than cinch in. Also, I don't know if this works with your shape but a tighter pencil or midi skirt if you have slimmer legs paired with a floatier top can look really nice and more flattering than a dress.
