Have cut it really short-here it is in it's natural state.

Looks like I am going to have to rethink my wardrobe-what colour clothing will work now do you think?

Am planning to grow it into this style by the new year as it seems similar to my pattern and colour....

However I am looking forward to getting to this sort of length as at the moment I am wearing hair bands until it has a bit of length and I can style it...

It's utterly gorgeous
Red lips would suit you and blues and greys look great with silver hair

Is that you in the lowest photo? Your hair (and you) are completely stunning!

I think I remember reading somewhere that when you turn grey, you can still wear 'your' colours because your underlying skin tone is similar and you'll have 'warm' or 'cool' grey depending on your colouring. What colours have suited you all your life?

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 22/05/2019 20:50

No not me flighty but my next hair goal. I have been dyeing my hair all sorts of shades between chestnut and cool brown and I am not sure if this is going to be cool or warm.

Colour wise my husband says I suit black and navy whereas my mum likes me in bright greens/purple/turquoise- so I am not really sure what is going to work now.

I do still suit true red lipstick- thanks misssmiley- will look at blues and greys :)

I really likely natural colour and the variation in tone it has- I just want to make the best of it in my clothing choices.

Just seen you on the other grey thread Paul and it reminded me I'd forgotten to post on here. One of my style crushes is Catherine Walsh who was an executive at Coty and may have similar colouring to you (although it's hard to be sure). She left Coty a few years and hasn't shown up on Google for a while so some of these pics are getting on a bit, but what I liked is she wore a lot of black and neutrals but with (and I think she's one of the few people who are allowed to use the phrase) a pop of colour. And always red lipstick.

I sewed elbow patches onto a couple of jumpers after seeing the first photo. I still didn't look like her though.

Love your hair.

I did this - from decades of dying my hair all shades of red went to my natural colour (TBH I didn't even really know what it would be ) turns out its a warmish light brown with significant grey/silver streak down each side. I really like it. Greys, silvers, certain blues (petrols and teals) look great - as do some quite deep pinks. I too love a red lipstick since I've gone au naturel. WOrks a treat

Thanks Flo - she is stunning and that has helped to see how to mix things up a bit clothes wise.

Calend I am wondering if mine will turn out similar- great ideas re colours if so- thank-you :)

PaulHollywood from experience your hair should be at the first picture length in about a month. If you keep the back trimmed then the rest of the hair will look brilliantly styled as it grows. Well, until it gets to the sticking out at the ears bit.
If you don't want to go full on red lipstick during the day then try red tinted lip balm. This will give a subtle pulled together look.

wowfudge · 23/05/2019 19:57

Since growing my dark hair dye out I've found the paler colours of those in 'my colours' - I'm a jewel winter apparently - look better than they did before. Other than that I haven't done anything different clothes or make-up wise. You have a fabulous face for a really short pixie cut.

Cocolapew · 23/05/2019 20:02

What's your skin tone Paul I'm very pale, but with a slight yellow undertone.
Now I'm grey Im finding I can wear black again, I don't looks washed out in it anymore.
Navy, jade green and bright pink look good too.
Grey hair and red lipstick always go.
Silver earrings look better than gold I think.

EraOfTheGrey · 23/05/2019 22:49

If you are anything like me then beige and camel colours will look shockingly bad. Khaki is also a hard colour unless you are warm toned. Cream makes my hair look dull and skin look sallow, white works in the opposite way.
Black, navy, silver greys and all jewel colours are all good.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 24/05/2019 04:32

I have neutral skin which leans slightly cool according to make-up sales people- usually wear ‘sand beige’ in lines.

I think I have been wearing colours that are too warm/muted for my colouring owing to the high contrast look given by dye. It’s weird seeing myself with my natural colour and is a period of adjustment for sure ! I just feel loads of my colours no longer work and weirdly, some greys look off too.....

Thank-you everyone for the great tips 🙂

Ohh just googled Catherine Walsh and she is stunning!

ChopOrNot · 24/05/2019 07:57

Grey wise I find pale grey looks great - anything mid or dark looks draining.
