Dull skin

I have the worst skin Sad

I have quite severe rosacea which flares up quite severely which has left me so insecure I have to wear full coverage foundation which I usually top up during the day.

I always forget to take this off at night.

The last few weeks my skin has looked worse than ever, it is so so dull Sad

I have no clue when it comes to skin care, please someone give me some tips for taking care of my skin and any tips for making it look healthier and not as dull.

smooth this over your foundation when you want to take it off, then dampen a flannel and wash off. In the morning, i would use this, followed by this and let it soak in for 5 minutes before applying makeup. all the best x

I treated roasseta with cold sore cream - stings but it went

I wasn’t convinced the doctors were right

Sonny23 · 22/05/2019 19:00

Thanks sleep I will be buying some next week to try!

Green, did it take away the redness? How often do you use it? Does any cold sore cream work? Sorry so many questions. I was put down for laser surgery on the nhs as they said mine was severe given my age, I then got pregnant so couldn't have it. When I had dc they no longer offered the treatment on the nhs. They kept sending me to appointments to see if they could offer it because of the severity but I stopped going to the appointments as I found it humiliating and disheartening not getting an answer all the time.

Sleep is bang on about Lush ultrabland for dissolving full coverage makeup.

Sonny23 · 22/05/2019 20:05

I'll give the lush one a go too.

I usually just use baby wipes Blush

Only for a few days

I used over the counter one - they’re all the same - it’s worth a go you’ve nothing to lose

GreenTulips · 22/05/2019 20:23

I should add I put my symptoms in the NHS own website and it kept coming back as cold sores - especially round the nose area

It was awful for two years and this team sorted it in a couple of days.

Sonny23 · 22/05/2019 21:33

I'll try it green. Fingers crossed!

Oh please don't use wipes. baby wipes and even make up wipes are horrible for my skin, and I'm lucky to have pretty good skin naturally. (sorry if that sounds braggy - loads of things that I don't like about myself, I promise you.) I used them for about two weeks and my skin was so dry and dull after that short a time. I just use water, or water and a washcloth/flannel or if I really want to push the boat out, Simple make up remover then water and a washcloth. Just stopping with the wipes will make a huge difference I'm sure.

If you have rosacea be so careful with what you use to take make up off. Avene cleanser is the only thing that calms and doesn’t irritate my skin. Water irritates my rosacea skin. Stick to avene so that your skin doesn’t flare up. When it’s calm you won’t need full coverage make up and can wear something lighter and your skin might feel and look better then.

Apparently azaleic acid is the only exfoliating acid recommended for rosacea as it actually calms the redness. The Ordinary do one for £5 or £6.

I would try that and see how you go, plus the niacinamide which has really helped to clear my skin up.

I have to exfoliate as I get really thickened skin on my cheeks which crinkles and looks awful when I move my face. If you can’t tolerate the stronger peels, i would try a clay cleaner (I’m using a Dr Jart one right now which is really good but Dermalogica dermal clay cleanser is amazing) with an electric silicone cleansing tool (I couldn’t justify the cost of a Foreo Luna so I bought a similar one from Amazon for £15 which is brilliant, my make up comes right off).

I also got a set of Estée Lauder trial sizes that included advanced night repair serum which is brilliant, and a powerfoil mask which is the best thing I’ve ever used - literally like I’d been for a facial. My skin was so much less oily as well for the several days afterwards. Unfortunately they’re bloody expensive though :(

Thank you everyone! I literally have no clue about skin care so this is all new to me. Am hoping I can find what helps.

Can't even take a picture with my dc at the moment because I'm so embarrassed by my skin Sad
