Waxing - how long does it last? Is it worth it?

I'm having my legs waxed tomorrow for the first time and just wandered peoples experiences of how long it actually lasts. I've had to obviously grow it out for the waxing and its horrible and I feel so uncomfortable. Is it actually worth it?

People swear by it. I tried it a couple of times but the letting the hair grow out completely negated any benefit of having smooth legs. For me anyway. It’s like having smooth legs then v hairy ones on rotation. If I shave I can always have smooth legs for almost free so for me it’s a no brainier. As I said though, people swear by it so everyone’s different I guess

Yea that's what I'm thinking rooftree especially in the summer as it means you can't wear shorts/skirts etc. for a couple weeks whilst the hair grows. I'm still undecided so will give it a go and see how long it lasts

I have to admit I've laughed bitterly when salons or beauty articles claim you have hair free results for up to 6 weeks after waxing. Maybe it's just me but because each hair is on a different growth cycle, I find that within 2 weeks I'm already getting regrowth that I have to pluck, epilate or shave. I've certainly never got to the end of a fortnight's holiday without having to attend to the waxed areas.

Having said that, the initial smooth result is great. But not as great as they'd have you believe.

One of my good friends loves a leg wax and she brazens out the hairy stage, wears whatever she wants, even shorts or short dress with the hairy legs. Then gets waxed. This is mind boggling for me as I don’t see how she can care about the smooth legs so much to get it done and pay for it, but not care about having hairy legs on show. But diff strokes for diff folks!

Mine lasts at least theee weeks - as I’ve been waxing for @ 25 yrs hair regrowth is relatively sparse now anyway

Bengal, when you say it lasts, do you mean for 3 weeks you have smooth legs? Then how long do you have to wait for the hair to grow long enough to wax again? It’s this waiting period that makes it not worthwhile for me

About 6 weeks but it depends on the individual, I can go 8 weeks but I'm blonde

My experience has been that after the first ever waxing (actually maybe the first two) everything is delightfully smooth for a couple of weeks. With continued waxing you start to get ingrowing hairs that make it feel less smooth even immediately after waxing.

After waxing a few times I switched to using an epilator - I prefer this as you can remove the hairs when they are much shorter, and it's faster. I exfoliate and moisturise every day to keep on top of ingrowing hairs but even so they do mount up ... I've settled into a routine where I will occasionally shave in between epilations, which I find a good way of reducing ingrowing hairs. I do have quite thick dark hair though - perhaps other people aren't so bothered with this problem.

Roof tree yes smooth legs for three weeks then probably six before I get it done again - as I’ve been doing it for years have found the hair regrowth reduces and kind of finer and less noticeable than when I used a razor

For me, waxing only last longer the longer you get it done iyswim.

I’ve been getting waxed regularly for about 3 years and it’s taking longer and longer between waxes.

I know what you mean about getting hairy though
