Curly Girl

Okay so I have seen loads of posts about Curly Girl Method and I'm super intrigued! A friend I used to work with always had amazing curls with what I described at the time as a wet look to them - I now suspect thanks to CG! So, first question is whether it's possible to use CG with really, really thick hair that's prone to being greasy at the roots and naturally has 1/2 waves rather than curves? And if so, what do I need to know?

You need to join us on the Facebook group!! Curly Girls UK or Curly Girls (conditioner washing group) which is international.

I’m on both and there’s loads of information and friendly advice.

I’ve been fully CG for about 2.5 years and my hair is so much better.

Thanks guys, I'll definitely join the FB group! Will have to try something a bit different I used the A's I Am last night, initially had a bit of a wave which tbf did stay in to this morning but it looks horrifically greasy!

I wasn’t a huge fan of As I am, I’m currently loving Pantene mousse and cantu custard.

Thank you I'll try those, your curls look amazing!

Trial and error a lot of the time! I'm a few years in, I still haven't found the exact perfect products but I'm enjoying trying stuff and I can get my hair to look fairly decent. I suspect it's looked dodgy recently as well overdue a cut so I'm going tomorrow to have 4-5 inches chopped off

I'm a curly girl ish I have my own bastardized version. I also use shampoo though only every other wash with a sulphate / silicone / paraben free one - L'Oréal botanicals then i condition with the botanicals conditioner, plop and then add even more conditioner and leave it in and lastly use Tigi curl rock amplifier. I have fine hair which can be greasy which is why I need to shampoo. It's a real case of trial and error. I'm in the curly silvers Facebook group as I am also embracing my grey hair Grin

A sulphate free shampoo or cowash and clarify every few weeks.
Oil your hair often overnight then wash and condition.
Deep condition and use protein treatments often.
I use leave in conditioners to style then a gel and finally a light oil to seal.
Its not just the products but the method you apply them along with not brushing your hair.
Eventually your hair will be in excellent condition bouncing about.
