Can anybody recommend a halfway decent looking hoody?

I realise they're neither stylish or beautiful, but I live in them in summer and my Mountain Warehouse one really isn't cutting it. It needs to have a full length zip and to not be too thick.

Willing to pay a fair bit as I'll definitely get my money's worth out of it.

If you’re wanting to splash the cash then I’d look at the proper outdoors brands on snow and rock or Cotswold outdoor. North face (which I find a bit narrow on the hips), rab, mountain hardwear etc do good quality fleece zip up hoodies. Not cheap though!

Following as I'd love a nice looking long slouchy hoody...

I would dearly love a new raglan sleeved hoodie. Rare as hens teeth

This looks much nicer in real life than it does here but I saw this the other day in my local outdoor clothing outlet and it's very nice. Looks very warm. Didn't buy as I don't need but as far as hoodies go I thought it was quite nice.

I have this one - great for summer evenings when we are away in the camper but perhaps not warm enough for very cold days.

Thanks for the ideas, I'll have a look at them all. I hadn't actually thought of looking in outdoors shops!!

I really like the Weird Fish ecru one (I already have a jumper type hoodie from them). And as an 'apple', it's good to know the North Face hoodies are narrow on the hip!

I'm going to the Lake District soon where they have (unsurprisingly) about 50 million outdoor shops so I'll buy one when I'm there.

Saltrock have some lovely hoodies atm, and they're usually 2 for £40. Good quality and last ages, and don't lose shape either. We bought a few bits from there on an unexpectedly cold summer trip years back and they still look as good as new.

Also try Fatface. My absolute favourite hoody ever was from there, and I was truly heartbroken when I spilled bleach down the front of it

raspberrycordial · 17/05/2019 22:48

I love my hoodie from here hariandthegang.co.uk really thick with a huge cowl neck. Personally I think they are longer than they look on the website but can't guarantee they would be on you. This is the best quality one I own.

I’ve got my eye on this one at the moment from Hush www.hush-uk.com/womenswear/daywear/tops/linen_blend_ombre_hoodie_crown_blue_ecru.htm

margaritasbythesea · 18/05/2019 09:51

I have got this one and I love it. Very thick.

As well as looking in Outdoor shops also target shops that are aimed at Surfers or Skateboarders - these sort of shops have huge ranges of Hoodies, and are usually very good quality, albeit you do pay a premium for the more fashionable brands.

A previous poster mentioned “Saltrock” and they are very good quality and reasonably priced, and are popular enough to be known, but not everywhere (like, say, “Superdry”). Real Surfers wear Saltrock! ( the company was started on a very small scale by a Surfer about 15 years ago in Cornwall to address a gap in the market, and has blossomed since then).

My wife and daughter have several of these, and are their “go to” choice.
