I've found something that has helped my hair grow

Rhodiola rosea.
I have Lupus and just had a 2 month flare up. My hair falls out when this happens and doesn't seem to grow much at all.
I had shaved it very short because I was going grey and was cutting out my bleach.
My hair did not grow a cm, it was falling out in clumps and looked very fine.
I started these tablets to help with menopausal symptoms and within a week or 2 my hair seemed to grow loads.
I think they definitely helped, my hair still wasn't growing once the flare finished.
Posting in case they help anyone else. As an aside they have helped massively with menopausal anxiety too Smile

Cocolapew Thank you for posting this, you have found someone it will help, lol me
My hair has suddenly gone almost bald in 3 areas, no idea why, Drs dont seem to know why either,so please tell,i am having to wear a hat when i go out,
Only discovered this a few weeks ago
I am post menopause

mumdom · 22/05/2019 11:15

I have thinned hair as a result of the PCOS I’ve had since puberty. Please can you post a link to the product you used? There seem to be a lot of rhodiola products with vanishingly small percentages of active ingredients.

lolbrador · 22/05/2019 11:23

I have lupus too and I would love if you could post a link Smile

Stumpedasatree · 22/05/2019 11:33

Is it helpful for thickening too @Cocolapew ?

Cocolapew · 22/05/2019 13:08

this is the one Im using
I take 2 first thing in the morning before eating.
It definitely thickened my hair, I had to use thinning scissors on the top the other day.
I hope it helps Smile

Thank you @Cocolapew, I'm not menopausal but it could definitely be useful if it helps with anxiety and energy levels, not to mention the hair. Funnily enough I use Natures Best for my other supplements.

Drogosnextwife · 22/05/2019 13:46

Can you tell us where you bought them? I've been looking for something that might thicken my hair for years.

Cocolapew · 22/05/2019 14:39

Online Drogo, the link is in my second post Smile

Another person you've helped....am willing to try anything at this point

Drogosnextwife · 22/05/2019 15:02

Oh sorry OP didn't see that Blush

HundredMilesAnHour · 22/05/2019 16:12

I'm definitely going to give this a try. I lost a lot of hair from stress then as it started (very slowly) growing back, I started on Tamoxifen which apparently has hair thinning as a side effect. My hair grows so slowly! And then it breaks off. It makes me so miserable so I'm prepared to pretty much anything (apart from stop the Tamoxifen which I have 2 more years left on).

Thanks OP!

Hi OP, does it make your hair grow quicker or thicker? If love the latter but hate the former. Tia

Cocolapew · 22/05/2019 18:48

Quicker and thicker user.
I'm feeling the pressure now, I hope it works for at least one more person ShockGrin

Cocolapew, how long before you noticed it made your hair grow,? the Nutrihair looks good too
I have been told my iron is fine, as i am supposed to have iron overload, but it has been very low this last year, although i have also had a lot of stress too.
Worth a try though

princessTiasmum · 22/05/2019 20:37

I have looked at reviews and was hoping to see other comments about hair growth but none, as they are for anxiety maybe its because peoples stress have gone down that hair has grown

BentBaastard · 22/05/2019 20:42

How quickly were you diagnosed @cocolapew

My SIL has all the symptoms but no diagnosis of lupus.

WolfhoundsofLove · 22/05/2019 20:46

Ordered, thanks Coco. I’ve got several auto immune conditions and my hair thinned out years ago, but I’m not ready to stop fighting yet!

Barracker · 22/05/2019 21:05

Coco I'm really happy your hair is recovering.
And I feel like a heel for saying what I'm about to say. But having suffered hair loss myself, my trichologist told me something which I found helpful in working out the trigger for starting and stopping my own hair loss.
There is an 8-12 week lag between what hair is doing, and what caused it. So hair loss that starts today, was triggered not by what I did yesterday, or last week, but rather by what I did 2 to 3 months ago.
It also means that whatever I do to try to fix hair loss today, will only have effect in 2-3 months.
The time lag is frustrating, but that's the hair growth cycle in action. It also means that when an episode of hair loss begins, it often needs to be ridden out for a couple of months before it completes.
And knowing that lag exists helps to identify the trigger much more accurately.

I hope this doesn't squash anyone's hope for recovery. Once I knew it existed, my own cause became much clearer and I eliminated that problem.

Cocolapew · 22/05/2019 21:18

That makes sense Barracker, don't feel bad Smile.
Maybe it was just getting over the flare that started the growth spurt and its a coincidence.
But I'm willing to take the chance that these are helping Grin. I'm taking them to help with the transition of having to come off HRT so any thing else is a bonus.
My hair looks epic at the moment (so modest).

I got diagnosised quite quickly once i saw a rheumatologist Bent, I got my diagnosis on symptoms as my blood are always clear.

Barcker my Dr told me the same thing, hair loss usually happens a few months after the event that caused it
I have just been researching it online, and of course it depends on the pattern of hairloss too
If it isnt caused by iron deficiency it can be hormoneal, so maybe these tablets help to balance hormones

princessTiasmum · 23/05/2019 09:23

I am going to risk it and sent for some of this,
I have just been given some eye drops by the hospital, for pressure behind my eyes, its quite funny as one of the side effects is eyelash growth, but also it says don;t let it get on skin, as hair may grow there too,
How about this stuff for hair loss,Grin

Cocolapew · 23/05/2019 10:45

Princess my mum's eyelashes are fantastic because of the drops Smile just becareful because they can turn your skin red/purple.

OP posts:
princessTiasmum · 23/05/2019 17:45

Thanks Cocolapew i will watch for that, talking to someone else today who said her eyelashes grew a lot ,but grew hair round her eyes that she has to have waxed, i think i might try a bit on my sparse eyebrows,

ShirleyAvenue · 23/05/2019 21:22

Does it make body/ facial hair grow quickly and thickly too??
