Burnt face, Nair!

DottieLottie1 · 17/05/2019 09:21

I've used bait sensitive on my upper lip several times with no problems.

Used it half an hour ago and it's burnt my skin! I'm red raw and my skin is cracked in places.

I've got work in half an hour!!! Tried covering it up with make up and it stings and highlights it even more!

Oops, why did I do it before work? Probably as I've never reacted before.

Any advice to get it to calm quickly? I've got a public facing job too 😭

Nair sensitive!

I did exactly the same thing with Nair myself a few months ago... my skin still isnt back to how it was.

But for now - bepanthan! Leave it to soak in for a bit, then tap a bit of powder over the top to reduce shine (deffo no foundation!)

DottieLottie1 · 17/05/2019 17:23

Ok, it's not so bad now. Just a few red patches and burns which will go scabby!

Will leave well alone 😂

If you've got some Sudocreme slap a nice thick layer on overnight, your skin should look & feel much better on the morning

goose1964 · 17/05/2019 20:29

That's why I don't use cream on my face. I tried once and it immediately started burning. I now use the jml lipstick shaped razor. It's brilliant.

Lozz22 · 17/05/2019 20:49

Don't use E45 cream on it. It's stings like a bitch!! Honestly it's like a thousand fire ants doing a warrior dance whilst wearing ice skates dipped in acid on their feet. Took my face about 6 months to return back to normal and that was with lots of sugar scrubs once it had started to heal

adamantinious · 17/05/2019 22:49

I did this as a teenager, desperate to remove my not-really-a-problem peach fuzz, and burnt my entire face. I went all swollen and red, like a hot tomato, and couldn't see. It's a chemical burn, effectively, I learnt.

the hard way.

sounds like you'll be okay, OP, but wow, this shit is potent stuff, isn't it?

If anyone else searches for this post in a similar predicament, I'd say...

If you can't see, have difficulty breathing or look like the elephant man, if the burn covers more than a third of your face, or if it's weeping, I'd suggest seeking immediate medical advice.

Otherwise, not much you can do except pain relief, keep it clean and dry, and take a day or two off work (tell them you've had an allergic reaction). I'd also suggest not using anything on your face but water, until its better, and after that, be careful for a few months about using retinols or AHA's if you're using such, as the skin can be sensitive for ages afterwards. I wouldn't recommend using anything on broken skin as that can promote infection, but a clean flannel soaked in cold water or ice wrapped up in a fresh tea towel might help to take the initial redness and heat away.

after my 'immac incident' I spent years shaving my face with a razor, too poor for electrolysis and the wrong colour scheme for ELP, until I got a 'magic touch' wand from JML, and now I have no fuzz, no more. It's basically just a very small electric razor, about the size of a lipstick, and I just go over my areas before I put my moisturiser on: it's great. Had it for ages, just change the batteries, and bingo (now I've said that, it'll go kaput, tomorrow, won't it?)

hope you feel better soon x

@adamantinious

Thank you so much I'm going to get a JML magic wand! I've got too long for dying it and am terrified of hair removal cream. TY

pictish · 17/05/2019 23:01

I did this once. Had a scabby moustache for ages. The first and only time I ever used hair removal cream. It was specifically for the face and I followed the instructions to the letter. Obviously should have done a patch test but does anyone ever?
Anyway no. I get mine waxed.

DottieLottie1 · 18/05/2019 09:48

Those using the JML magic wand does it not leave you with stubble???

Have you got any lavender oil? I did this a few days before my sister's wedding. Lavender oil and then sudocrem at night. Looked presentable (bar a few scabs) on the wedding day with plenty of fill cover slap.
Skin was really burnt but healed within a few weeks.

DottieLottie1 · 19/05/2019 22:22

I had some Avenno and have slathered it on. Skin still had a few small red patches and s little dry skin but not so bad. I Looked terrible in Friday as I was ruby red with cracked almost bleeding skin 😬

New hair (upper lip and chin) removal method required. I've done threading in the past but I would need it doing more than weekly. I've got an epistolary which is excellent but doesn't get every hair and I still find myself plucking. The plucking can lead to me digging into my skin so I end up with small cuts.

This magic wand thingy sounds good but I'm worried I will end up with stubble....

I’ve started sugaring again recently. It was something I did as a teen but stopped after uni and then kids.

I’ve bought some strips off eBay and sugar my whole face and arms and it doesn’t take that long. Even tiny hairs get pulled out.

I use this recipe. Really recommend it. Oh and I also occasionally use my lumea, which is my saviour.
DottieLottie1 · 20/05/2019 09:06

I'd forgotten about sugaring!

I apologise for the typos and autocorrects on my previous post. I obviously didn't use an epistolary but an epistick (coil threading tool!).
