Hairdryer that doesn't cost an arm and a leg

My Parlux hairdryer is about 4 years old and cost over £100. The switch has gone wrong and now it only runs on slow speed. 😡 Really annoyed as one of the reasons I bought it was for their so called legendary reliability! I probably dry my hair a few times a week so it's not as if it's been hammered!

Reluctant to spend that much on the next one as if it's only going to last a few years it's not really worth paying through the nose.

I really like the ionic feature as my hair has a tendency to frizz.

Any recommendations? TIA

I got (on request) a Babyliss 3q for Christmas and think it's good for the price. (About £50) I got fed up of rebuying the GHD air which kept going after around a year despite being £100+ so made a conscious decision to try something cheaper but with decent specs. I realise a £50 hairdryer isn't 'budget' for many though , obviously, but I dry my long hair daily so would be miserable without!

Thanks I will take a look

Anything by babyliss or Remington is always a great choice

Try an ETI Turbo. I've had these for years now.

I got the babyliss speed pro 2200, I I’m very pleased with it. I have thick shoulder length hair and it dries it quickly and leaves it smooth.

I can recommend the Diva Ultima 5000 pro. It’s so powerful I need to weigh down loose items when I use it in the kitchen. The pink and purple are available on amazon for £40 - the black one is over £100!

It comes with a nifty little cone diffuser that creates lovely waves similar to tonging but without the heat. It’s ionic too, so leaves hair incredibly smooth. Noticed yesterday that my hairdryer uses a very similar Diva model.

I’ve just seen the Diva one I mentioned above for £33.99 on wowcher. In red, pink or purple.

Head Jog Nano Ceramic: great technology, they use far-infrared heat which is kinder to the hair. Around £40.

Other hair dryers seem to damage my hair and take away all the softness. If I use this with the diffuser I keep my softness and shine.

Thedarklady how big and heavy is this jog hair dryer? I have dicky wrists so don't want anything too clunky to handle.

I bought one in Aldi when they were on offer a couple of months ago. I think it was £12 and it's bloody brilliant!
I had a Babyliss before (it was a present) and don't rate Babyliss at all.
Had a Remington one before which was good, but ended up being left at an ex's house, long story.....
Remington are often on offer in Argos. Have a look there.

Thedarklady · 17/05/2019 20:25

It's small and light for me. My wrists are smaller then the year 4 children I teach.

LittleSprite · 17/05/2019 20:31

Very pleased with Remington Proluxe. Reduced on Amazon currently. Around £35.

Thanks all! I will have a look at all your suggestions and order something tomorrow!
