Is this dress suitable for an interview without a jacket?

I've bought a bog-standard blazer from M&S but the arms are too long and it spoils the look IMO. Very little time for an alternative now. It's education-based. Unfortunately I don't have this shape to go in it!

Personally I think a jacket is needed for an interview.
Might be my age (although potentially the interviewers are also likely to be my age).
I'm aware of all the "It makes no difference to your ability to teach" arguments, but it is about 'knowing when it is appropriate to wear different things' for me.
Is it Primary or Secondary ? Somehow 'jacket wearing' in secondary might be more expected that Primary.
I am prepared to be shouted down though - that's just my opinion.
It is a nice dress though. Smile

It’s not a complete no-no if you have no alternative, but it isn’t what I would wear to an interview in education. Too patterned and too body-con, IMO.

A plain jacket would tone it down. It doesn’t really matter if it “spoils the look” so long as it isn’t scruffy. Could you hem the sleeves, or use wonder-web, or just turn the cuffs over?

Every interview in education I ever went to, women wore skirt or trouser suits or separates in black, grey, navy or similar. The nearest I saw to a pattern was a subtle check!

I think it’s fine for an interview and a suit type jacket would look odd.

Depends what industry...

How corporate the company is etc

Can you roll the blazer sleeves up once?

I was interviewed for an AHT post recently and was the only candidate wearing a jacket. The other two wore dresses not dissimilar to that without jackets. I was in two minds about whether to wear a blazer due to short arms too but I tacked the inner lining of the sleeves which gives them a slight ruching and prevents the sleeves looking too long. I was glad I wore it in the end. It does seem as though they aren’t as common at interviews as they once were though.
