Next week I am going to Chelsea flower show and am now panicking about what to wear.

I need comfy shoes I can walk around all day in, but does anyone have any ideas about dress code?

Dress/trousers?? Help! I am a curvy size 12

Went a few years ago (envy you!), including a formal lunch in an hospitality marquee. Men were in lounge suits, ladies either in work suits too if they were there for a business thing, cotton trousers/shirts or summer dresses if just there for the show. I wore a floral cotton day dress, quite informal, and leather sandals (it was very hot).
Most people were similarly dressed, more casual if not there for a corporate thing, chinos, linen suits etc. and quite a few gardening hats 😁.
Don’t recall seeing anyone either very casual (jeans or shorts) or very dressy.

Thanks - I will maybe go for day dress then. I have this one - do you think it would be ok with some flat sandals?

I would go more floaty than body con. How tall are you? There's no rules as such but there is not much flesh on show at Chelsea. Lots of chinos; lots of midi dresses ( even before they were fashionable). Flat shoes. Credit card ( price of drinks etc quite steep). Enjoy

It gets very very crowded. Absolutely heaving in fact. Open sandals might mean your toes are at risk of being accidentally trodden on. I'd go for flat, comfy and closed toe just incase.
Most people IMO aren't all that dressed up. Smart casual is probably the best bet.

Floaty dresses look awful and frumpy on me so I tend to steer clear. I have some decent chinos though so I might go down that route instead. Thanks

Chinos and comfy shoes perfect. It’s very casual, most people in jeans, trainers and fleeces!

it was more casual and much more busy than i expected (eg we had to drink our bubbles sitting on the grass, as there were no seats at all)
I works a skirt and Vans trainers, and and did not feel at all underdressed.
You could probably wear anything smart casual and be absolutely fine (and I'm fussy) Comfortable shoes important though

I went several years ago on what was (then) the hottest day of the year to that point. I wore wide-legged linen trousers, sandals and a sleeveless top, so very casual. I don't recall many people dressed up, to be honest, but I wasn't in any of the corporate function tents. Be warned though, it's absolutely rammed so wear something comfortable on your feet as you will end up standing for a lot of the day. We took a picnic but struggled to find enough space to sit down - ended up sitting on a bank but at least we were in the shade. It was a great experience, but I've since gone to Hampton Court instead, just because there's more space to move around/sit down.
