Can you tell me about your microblading healing process?

I've just booked in to have it done and really had to psyche myself up. I'd like firsthand accounts of what the healing process is like, if you'd be so kind Thanks God, I'm so nervous!

Ok, try not to get them wet (I had the shower head pointing inwards almost and had to tip head right back so water never dribbled on my face!) Don't touch, first session flaked when healing and scabbing, looks better after top up x

Hayls17 · 13/05/2019 07:01

Don’t get wet or sweaty for about a week afterwards! They scab up the day after treatment and remain scabby for about 5 days. When the scabs fall off the micro bladed area looks very pale, I was convinced mine hadn’t taken or the dye used was too light! But it’s totally normal it’s just something to do with the skin repairing itself. Takes about 2 or 3 weeks for the full colour to show through. Then as PP says you have a top up after about 6 weeks, which seems to heal quicker. Good luck! I love my micro blades I’m so glad I got them done.

KooMoo · 13/05/2019 07:09

Don’t do it!

I’ve seen some horrendous results OP. Look it up. Infections, slip of the blade mistakes, google it.

I only know the above because I googled as I was thinking of having them myself. I’m sticking with my make up.

Baxdream · 13/05/2019 08:27

As above, keep them dry! Plus bepanthon morning and night.
At first they'll seem so dark and you'll panic. Then they'll fade and you wish you went for a darker shade. You'll be ready for your top up.
I love mine!

AmIbeingTreasonable · 13/05/2019 09:17

Love mine. Most important is to research read reviews, ask lots of questions. I had to fill in a medical form.

RussellSprout · 13/05/2019 09:25

Don't get them wet.
Expect them to be paler when the scabs fall off

(I say scabs but they are very small so really not noticeable, not like big scabs everyone will stare at )

I take it you have researched your practitioner and looked at examples of their previous work - don't go with anyone who is really cheap or inexperienced is my advice!

How do you wash your hair? Or is dry shampoo your friend.

Swimsuitbod · 13/05/2019 09:32

As long as you go somewhere reputable you'll be fine. The only disaster ones are when people try to get knock off prices and end up with people not properly qualified. It's the best thing and makes life so much easier! Healing takes about 5 days. Apply a natural balm such as hemp balm to act as a barrier and protect the surface and don't get wet. Resist the urge to scratch them during the flakey stage. After one week you will wake up and they will look fab!

Just shower as normal but don't stick your face under.

Hayls17 · 13/05/2019 09:39

@koomoo but surely you could say that about absolutely anything? Hair dye, tattoo, piercings.

OP just do your research, look at their social media for reviews and photos of their past work. Don’t let price influence your decision, some are very cheap compared to others but from what I’ve seen there is usually a reason why!

HappinessIsKey · 13/05/2019 09:46

They do scab over..so you will feel a bit horrid for a week or so, because of the scabs on your eyebrows. But once they have healed, that's it 😊 just make sure you go to a very reputable salon. And make sure when they draw them on first you are 100% happy with the shape!!! Say so if not!!
I took my sister for hers done as a treat, as she hates doing her make up..even though it was the best lady in the area, I took about 3/4 of a hour, perfecting the shape before the therapist started the treatment. Its your face, so any little thing you don't like when they are drawn on first say! Xx

PompeyBez · 13/05/2019 10:00

If your therapist is a good one, they will give you very clear and detailed after care advice.
As someone that's been through a microblading disaster, its absolutely essential for you to see their healed work. Not just after pics. It's really easy to start up as a microblader, and not much training is needed.
I ended up with nothing after they healed, except scaring. Luckily I've now found a fabulous lady who does semi permanent make up so have them tattooed instead.

LeMarshmallow · 13/05/2019 12:41

Thanks everyone, I have done my research and found somebody with a very good reputation. But it does feel really scary. Great info about the healing process, sounds like it should all calm down after about 7 days. A few times I've almost bottled it and cancelled but if it works out the way I've seen it work out via images on the microblader's Instagram and Facebook pages then I'd be so happy!
