For context I'm 30 and had my first child last month and he's my absolute world. Hormones have started to settle and am feeling more human now. I've been thinking and come to realise that my wardrobe basically consists of clothes I don't really wear but have kept for sentimental reasons, and basic/practical clothes that aren't 'nice' and make up an every day, basic, boring, no effort outfit.

I'm 5'3 and very slim but hips are fairly wide (even more so now, my jeans won't do up even tho I have lost all the water weight, it feels like hip bones are further apart now, so don't know what size I am now). I feel I tend to look shorter cos of my hips but don't like wearing heels.

I want to look good for me.

I want to look good for my DH (who loves how I look now and has never so much as hinted at wanting me to dress differently but I would like to make more of an effort anyway).

I also want to look my age, put together, and like someone who is competent and confident (I have always looked younger and have been not taken seriously before because of that).

I have often wanted to chuck all my clothes and start again but I don't know what type of clothes I should buy? What looks good. If anyone has tips based on info provided I'd be grateful :)

Check out Uniqlo for very good value simple unfussy pieces that you can put together. There will be some random stuff too so you have to find the gems (like nice jump suits)
