I would recommend Nike Air Rift but they are £70 region.

"Cushioning - Generally have the softest midsole and least medial support. Designed for the neutral runner, they are not built to compensate for biomechanical problems. These trainers are ideal for an efficient runner who does not overpronate.
With ABZORB cushioning in the heel and forefoot, the 692 is built for the recreational and serious runner seeking a smooth ride with cosmetic appeal.

errrr

right.

have no idea

Nbg · 18/07/2007 15:09

where has that come from?

Nbg · 18/07/2007 15:11

Air Rift
Or as me and dh call them, ninjas.

Have had mine for 4 years and there still going strong.
I paid half the price in a Nike Outlet shop too.

fortyplus · 18/07/2007 15:12

Anything with air cushions in the sole and lace 'em up tight. Maybe buy some of those cushion heel things. I played netball last week for the first time in ages and turned my ankle over (not too bad, luckily) which made me think I should have an ankle support.
But I don't think you're as old as me!

fortyplus · 18/07/2007 15:13

Nbg - they look disgusting! They'd have to be very comfortable for me to wear them!

Nbg · 18/07/2007 15:14

How very dare you!

They are marvelloso.

Mine are red.

fortyplus · 18/07/2007 15:16

I am a fogey

IsabelWatchingItRainInMacondo · 18/07/2007 15:18

Split toe? really? honest question... doesn't it feel like running in flip flops?

Nbg · 18/07/2007 15:20

No not at all.

They are amazingly comfortable.

Everyone laughed at me when I bought them and then they were converted.

All the slebs have them

fortyplus · 18/07/2007 15:21

That's definitely put me off!

IsabelWatchingItRainInMacondo · 18/07/2007 15:23

I'm beginning to think about it... The eccentric in me is prone to buy strange shoes.

fortyplus · 18/07/2007 15:27

If you want strange shoes...

...How about these? www.hottershoes.com/hottersite/pages/home/default.asp

IsabelWatchingItRainInMacondo · 18/07/2007 15:30

Oh no, I may like strange shoes but I'm selective!

fortyplus · 18/07/2007 15:33

My mum bought me a pair of Hotter shoes - I've had to hide them!

These ones... www.hottershoes.com/hottersite/product/Womens_Shoes_BestSellers/TON.htm

I mean - I know I'm 40+ but I have a mental age of twelve!

SpacePuppy · 18/07/2007 15:35

I can recommend New Balance, will cost somewhere in the region of £40. My sister loves saucony ( she runs more than me) they're about £20. You should go to an independent running shop and try various ones on, they helped me, I have a slight instep etc. They tend to look at how you walk, they also recommend that you change your running shoes after you had a baby as the weight tends to make us walk differently, to do with distributing the weight through your feet, mumble.....

anchovies · 18/07/2007 15:35

www.startfitness.co.uk, if you ring them they will advise and they have bargains

Overpronators feet roll in too much, you'd know cos the soles of your shoes would wear down the inside and you'd prob have flat feet. choosing running shoes

If you are a neutral runner go for cushioned.

fortyplus · 18/07/2007 15:38

My heels wear slightly on the outside. Does that make me an underpro-wotsit?

coddy · 18/07/2007 15:41
