Bikini or one piece in Turkey?

I'm off to Turkey in two weeks for my 50th birthday.

I'd planned to wear a one piece swimsuit as I'm not particularly body confident.

I'm a size 18 top and 14/16 bottom with a lot of rolls!

My friend has said I'll feel out of place as when she went to Cyprus last year everyone had bikinis on, whatever size they were and she felt she had to buy one to wear while she was there.

I'm a firm believer in wearing what you want if you feel comfortable to.

So is she right and should I take one just in case or stick with the one piece!

It definitely doesn't matter. No point wearing something you're jot comfortable in, it'll spoil the experience. Take your first choice. My experience of Turkey have always had a mixture anyway and does it really matter what they do? Be yourself!

Definitely wear what you feel comfortable in! Does it really matter what others are wearing if that doesn't suit you or you don't like it for yourself?

But yes in my experience most women in Turkey regardless of age wear two piece swimsuits at the beach.

Wear what you feel comfortable in.

I went to oludeniz in Turkey during the Turkish summer holiday and there was a really mix of women wearing bikinis or one pieces. Also lots of women wearing the full modesty suits, so even in a one piece you wont be the most covered up woman on the beach.

I wore a bikini for the first time in my life.

Nobody cares what you wear really. It’s more about what you feel most comfortable in.

I live in Turkey

You can wear whatever you want - no one will bat an eyelid

A tankini will give you the option to swap according to your mood and what you feel like when you are there.

I like them because I can go for the “one piece look”, the bikini look or completely topless depending on where l am and the type of beach.

DSis lived in Brazil for a few years and said everyone, regardless of age and size, wore bikinis. Eventually she did too!

I quite enjoy being the only person on the beach in a one piece costume - I pretend I’m a 50s screen siren.
In reality, nobody else gives a fig what other people are wearing - so just wear something you feel good in. Have an excellent holiday!

We've been to Spain for the last two years and I noticed nearly everyone was wearing bikinis no matter what size. They mostly seemed to be Spanish or German and they really didn't care. I said to DH everyone here is wearing a bikini but I'm too conscious too and he said so what, nobody cares. So this year I'm going to do it! But I have lost some weight this year and hope to lose a bit more before the summer.

Wear whatever you're comfortable with.

I go to Turkey most years and there are bikinis, tankinis, one-piece, topless, burqas around the pool. No one batted an eyelid at the other.

zonkin · 11/05/2019 12:59

I have to disagree about the tankini. I think that they are the most unflattering option, and do draw attention to one's middle. Go bikini or one piece.

Answeringonlyyesorno · 11/05/2019 12:59

I noticed more costumes last year, as there's some very fashionable designs, after years in a bikini, and a tummy that just ends up looking like a crab stick, I've ordered some new costumes.
