Removing semi permanent dye?

I have naturally dirty blonde hair with darker roots. I’ve been dying it will a semi permanent dark brown dye for around 5 years. It’s starting to look very patchy with a line of blonde/red at the roots then very dark below. Id like to ‘start again’ is there any way to remove the dye? It’s supposed to be 28 washes out but obviously it doesn’t after so many applications

Google 'bleach bath' - always worked for stripping manic panic type dyes for me, with minimal damage

www.myhdhair.com/pages/how-to-bleach-bath this link has a 'recipe - be aware that left too long it will lift the base colour as well as stripping the dye

Colour b4 is brilliant at removing hair dye and you don't have to worry about using bleach. Just make such you do the full rinse tones stated on the instructions. If there is a lot of build up you might need to do it twice.

Try the Vitamnin C shampoo mix, google for method, has worked for me several times.

I've used Colour B4 for this with great success. Note though that:

  • You need to rinse for even longer than the pack says or it may go back to a darker shade as your hair dries out
  • It stinks. Less so if you rinse more. It's not so bad once it's dried out.
  • You may need to do it twice if the shade is stubborn. I had to do thi once, every other time just once has worked fine.
