Dark circles

So I've got bad dark under eye circles/bags. I always have to be honest... apparently it's thin skin under eye so a reflection of my eye socket?! I drink lots of water and generally sleep 7/8 hours, my diet is reasonably healthy although could be better.

I have tried various serums and eye creams which make no difference and so many different concealers. I'm currently using Estée Lauder double wear concealer and it looks ok initially but within hours it's faded and my dark circles are back! I've tried using primers under it and still it doesn't stay on.

Can anyone recommend stuff that helps? I'm fed up of being told I look tired/ill!

Tear trough filler

Have you looked at Boots No7 Dark Spot Boosting Serum? I've been using it a week on my dark under eyes & I can see a difference already.

I use a lemon coloured concealer for purple/ black circles under my eyes and it's fab...will find the name and report back!

Bobbi Brown colour corrector is good but it takes practice to apply it properly and it does work better with the eye cream, concealer and powder so works out quite expensive. I like Smashbox undereye primer, it's a pink paste that you apply before concealer. The Doublewear is a good concealer, maybe needs setting with powder for longevity?

Eek I don't think I could be brave enough for fillers! Just looked at pics tho and looks like a good job, but I suspect expensive and need redoing often?!

I will look at the no7 dark spots thank you.
I've tried yellow concealer and pink concealer - lots of diff ones various make up counters have advised.
The eye primer I'm using is a pink cream before the Estée Lauder but I've never used a setting powder, perhaps that would help?!

I’m loving Mac long wear concealer, doesn’t feel to heavy either

Mummy0ftwo12 · 06/05/2019 20:20

think tear trough fillers only need doing once, mine haven't changed in over a year, if you do a search then there are other threads on it

Could you be short of iron? I've developed really bad dark circles lately and my ferritin levels are really low, so I'm taking an iron supplement now. I think it does help a bit. Stress definitely makes them worse, as does lack of sleep.

AliceRR · 06/05/2019 20:28

I think if you sleep well and drink enough water then your dark circles might be hereditary. I have them all the time but they are worse when I haven’t slept.

I think you really need a corrector rather than a concealer. The only concealer that had enough coverage to cover my dark circles is the make up forever ultra hd.

In terms of correctors I also like the Bobbi brown one, which is a cream, and I also like the Armani one which is a liquid and so doesn’t need powder. Depending on the colour I don’t always need concealer on top. I would recommend going to a department store like house of Fraser or selfridges and then trying a few.

I used to love benefit erase paste. It gives good coverage but I find it a bit too gloopy now. Then again maybe it’s old and I need a new one!

Mine are hereditary Blush

I love NARS concealer or Tarte Shape Tape concealer.

Jaz32 · 06/05/2019 20:33

@AliceRR they are def hereditary my mum has them and unfortunately I've passed them onto my children 🤦‍♀️
I will have a look at the Bobbi brown corrector too!
