Colour b4 hair dye stripper ?

Has anyone tried this ?
I’ve got waist length, fine(ish), dyed red/black hair. I’ve dyed my hair 10 years +. I’m a natural dark/dirty blonde. The up keep is killing me. The condition of my hair is good and I don’t mind losing a few inches if needs be BUT I’m scared it will make my hair fall out or thin it.
Realistically I’d like to be able to get it back to a light brown. Don’t mind rocking a orange/pink shade in the meantime. I won’t use bleach as the last time it ruined my hair condition.
Should I brave it? Or am I doomed to be dying my hair red every month for eternity???

I used it and it wasn't so bad 🤷🏻‍♀️ I even liked the colour it turned out! Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter re rinsing times, and you may need two boxes because of your hair length. It smells horrific and it will make your hair very porous, so it's wise not to dye your hair after using it because the colour will come out a lot darker (but it doesn't sound like you want to anyway!).

Not much to lose tbh. I'd love to see before/after pictures if you do give it a go!

Be prepared for very orange hair underneath. I’d recommend having a semi permanent dye (with no peroxide) ready to put straight on the top. Lighter than you think, like pp said. I used an ash blonde which took out the worst of the orange.

I had this done at the hairdressers and I looked like I'd stepped out of Fraggle Rock! But once it was recovered I was really pleased with the results.

Thank you. I’ve read about the not re dying it after for a little while. I have read that people put toners on the hair after ( I’d have to go to work with whatever colour it ended up). I’m well over due a hair cut but I wanted to try and sort the colour out first. The last hairdresser I spoke to about lightening it and getting the red out looked scared and backed away slowly Grin
Will definitely do before and after if I’m brave enough. The problem is that my hair looks “nice” so if I wreck it or it falls out I’d be devastated but I don’t think I can live with the red much longer.

I used it, stripped out all the colour, I was only orange for a day. However it stinks and the smell clings, I could still smell it weeks later especially if my hair was wet.

Semi permanent and permanent dyes contain peroxide.

ColourB4 will strip the dye from your hair, but be prepared to be a scary, blonde-y shade.

As PPs have said, it will leave your hair fried and smelly.

Think rotten eggs/drains. 🤢

Hi I did this a couple of weeks ago and it worked really well in my overly dark very regularly dyed hair. It stripped it back to a coppery colour which was nice but I had grey/brown roots which weren’t! It did start to darken again on its own, so I dumped it a very light brown which did come out very dark. But it stripped out the almost black dye which is what I wanted.
The smell is absolutely revolting- my husband thought our dog had diahorread somewhere when I did it 🤢

OK, this is crazy but it worked..
My hair is the same kind of natural colour as you've described yours.
I dyed it deep purple with reddish tones. The upkeep was shocking and it faded so quickly.
I didn't want the smell or the frazzle of colour B4.
Instead I used 8/9 crushed vitamin tablets ground to powder and mixed with head and shoulders ( any anti dandruff or vosense is supposed to work)
I put it on my damp hair. Wrapped it in a tight towel and left it for an hour.
It only bloody worked. It stripped a good percentage of the colour and left it a pinky/orange colour. Soft and nice condition. Over time it's almost back to dirty blonde..bur not my natural colour.
My only problem now is, I'm too scared to re-dye as I don't want to chemically alter it and have it go green or something. I'm currently waiting for a hairdresser to sort it and highlight it back to how it was. It's liveable though and doesn't look awful (well, I don't think it does! 😂).
It was an Internet trick I'd found by googling.. Sounds random but it really worked. White coloured tablets are supposed to better than the orange coloured ones.. But I didn't know this until after. I rocked my orange ting! 😂.

If you can get it, there’s a similar product called Decolour, by Scott Cornwall. Less faff, less smell, and you can colour over it straight away.

MistressWeatherwax1 · 04/05/2019 12:48

I use the JoBaz Max Colour remover and it worked great. Still smells awful and takes about an hour and a half to use but worth it plus you can dye your hair straight away after it.

I used it to remover the red/auburn from mine, took it back to a brassy blonde from a previous time I'd lightened it and I dyed it the copper colour the next morning and it turned out lovely and didn't cause any damage.

Missed the other two photos. This is after the remover and once I dyed it again.

Well a little update .... After hours of research yesterday I bought two boxes of colourless. I put them on my hair last night. It didn’t smell as bed as was expecting. More perming lotion that rotten eggs. Won’t lie as I sat with it on my head covered in cling film I was crapping myself. Rinsing it was awful it felt like forever, I timed myself to make sure I did it properly. My boxes were missing bottle D so I had to use my own conditioner (annoying). HOWEVER my hairs is significantly lighter. Yellow blonde at the top and a auburn colour half way down where the black was. It’s still shiny and the stripper hasn’t ruined the condition. I only lost a small amount of hair in the shower.

So my plan is to do it one more time (you can do it up to 3 times ) and then I’m going to let my hair rest and treat it to lots of good quality conditioner. I’ll worry about dying it in a few weeks once I’ve 100% researched and decided what colour I should be. In the meantime I’ll rock the yellow/ginger/auburn and be thankful I’ve not ruined my hair Grin
