Help me figure out skincare

Hi, I’ve decided I should revamp my none existent skin care regime.
I have been looking at products and I don’t even know where to start with acids, jellies, oil cleansers so looking for recommendations.
I have combination skin I think, I get quite a few spots but find a lot of cleansers dry my skin out.
Could somebody maybe explain in simple terms what various acids sold by the ordinary etc do.
I don’t have a huge budget so purse friendly options are very welcome

Hopefully someone will come along.
I'm interested myself, but the array of products is bewildering!

I'd do some research first about basic skin care before wading into acids and start that routine.

I'm loving a eucerin gentle cleanser that doesn't dry it out and fell in love with Cerave moisturiser (night, with nicacinamide in) when I first tried it.

I watched a dermatologist video who said the main key things for good skin are vitamins a (retinol) b (nicacinamide - spelling?!) and c.

The ordinary do a few bit c's; I was using timeless vit c and ferulic acid and loved it but now use the ordinary vit c powder just mixed with a little water - not sure if that's right but seems to work! I also love their nicacinamide and zinc and their reverstarol and ferulic acid.

Dr Dray on YouTube really rates azealic acid and I like it too. The ordinary one is a bit odd and very matte so maybe try the garden of wisdom one.

I haven't tried retinol yet as you must wear a good factor 50 sunscreen and I've been getting into the swing of that first,

The issue with acids is that going gung ho can stress the skin more so starting low key is best. Sometimes it stings a little at first and you have to try it on alternate days.

Read the long running skin thread here and all the cheat sheets to get an idea. Dr Dray and dr Sam bunting on YouTube are good too.

Thank you.
My skin seems to be in crisis at the minute; lumpy, bumpy and so on (hairy too!) so I will try and be sure of what I put on it.
Will check the threads and videos.

Thankyou, I’ll look up those skincare threads. Also thanks for the tip about retinol I’m not in the UK and the sun is very powerful all year round here (I often burn a little with factor 50) so I’ll avoid that one
