Daily skin care regime - acids?

I am a complete novice in the skin care world. Until now I have just used 'simple' make up remover lotion and whatever moisturiser I have in the house.
I am now 34 and my skin is starting to look dull and I am seeing the beginnings of fine lines round my eyes. I feel like it's time to start a regime to preserve/rejuvenate my skin.
I have been researching and researching for a good skin care regime and was about to purchase an acid toner (nip and fab or pixi glow) but a lot of the reviews say they are good for breakouts or oily skin etc.
I don't get break outs or spots or visible pores, my skin is just dull and thin in places (particularly under eyes!) and starting to show lines and look old.
What would be a good product for me to use daily? Would acid help or is that more to fix skin problems? Help!
Thanks Smile

Start off with Pixi glow tonic and look at Caroline Hiron's website esp at the cheat sheets.

Nip & Fab glycolic pads are brill and almost always on offer in Superdrug (who also do their own brand)
I have a bottle of Pixi but tbh, it's no better than the Nip &Fab and whilst I've had about 6 tubs of those, I won't repurchase the Pixi.

Acid toners resurface your skin gently so the dullness should go.
A vitamin C serum will also brighten a dull complexion.

GA toner and Vit C are the two things which have made the most difference to my skin.

Maybe a hot cloth cleansing routine as well rather than padding the cleanser off.

Thanks for the responses, much appreciated.
I currently use simple cleanser to take off make up, but I dont wear foundation. I only wear eye makeup and a bit of highlighter on my cheeks so I often actually skip cleansing Blush
I often wake up in the morning with panda eyes when I get in the shower and then cleanse to get it off before reapplying. I really am a total lazy arse novice at this.
I'll try those pads first then and see how I go. Can you recommend a good vitamin C serum? Does that go on before moisturising or instead of?
Thanks again!

Face theory has an excellent vitamin c serum. So does mario badescu but it’s quite pricey. I would try to cleanse more if possible. I read a tip about cleansing for 60 seconds and it’s done wonders for my skin. I don’t think expensive cleansers are worth it so I stick with neutrogena as it’s never failed me

Also serums go on before moisturiser

I love love love Vichy vit C. It's called Liftactiv antioxidant anti fatigue fresh shot Hmm and supposedly transforms your face in ten days (small bottle) then goes off.
Keep it in the fridge and you get at least a month out of it. It does transform your face though!
Others I've heard good things about are Garden of Wisdom and La Roche Posay redermic C.
Whatever you do, avoid the foul Ordinary vit C which is like rubbing wet sand on your face.
