Different foundations suit different applications. Liquid ones I use brushes, creamier ones I use an egg sponge and others I use my fingertips.

Primer + blend foundation with a beauty blender drenched under cold water and squeezed out. Use less foundation than you usually need. I find the more product on my face, the more it goes everywhere.

I use my fingers when in a rush (liquid foundation) but if I have more time i’ll use a beauty blender sponge

I use powder foundation (Lily Lolo mineral) A damp egg sponge and press lightly over pigmented areas. Works brilliantly for me

I got a blunt brush from primark - it's a blending brush I think. 3 quid and its great!

DonPablo · 27/04/2019 11:29

Brush usually and for full coverage a wedge sponge.

Blending is the key along with a fou dation the right shade. I'm loving the Charlotte Tilbury wonderglow primer, it's transformed how my foundation looks!

I use a brush. I don't like sponges as I find they soak up too much product.

Isleepinahedgefund · 27/04/2019 11:38

I've used every method under the sun. Brush, sponge, fingers, probably a few more gadgets!

I find different methods suit different levels of coverage. I like a very natural finish and at the moment I'm using my fingers for most foundations, I like very liquid serum type foundation. I sometimes then buff it in with a brush but don't usually need to.

Yesterday I used a blending egg yesterday and my makeup lasted the whole day I usually use just powder and setting spray and it stays on a fair few hours, but using the egg it looked flawless and I don't know if the technique helped but it stayed on for way longer.
Also use a new primer to the Becca backlight one it's so good

ShirleyPhallus · 27/04/2019 11:46

If your make up is falling off you need a good primer

I have tried hundreds inc Smashbox which is meant to be the best, but my favourite is actually a very cheap one - MUA matte perfect primer

SpeckledyHen · 27/04/2019 15:29

Thank you . I’ll try a primer and an egg !

@SpeckledyHen I used to use a beauty blender egg but I've now found the primark ones in a two pack for £1.50 and they are exactly the same as the beauty blender try that, and when you use it soak it first in water and then squeeze out everything and use like that it's so good

iwillkeepthishouseclean · 27/04/2019 22:06

Brushed or sponge I could never go back to using fingers ...

Aquamarine1029 · 27/04/2019 22:08

I use a foundation brush and then quickly blot with a sponge after it's evenly on my face.

Biancadelrioisback · 27/04/2019 22:28

I have never found a primer that works. It ends up looking like ive covered my face in pritstick and applied foundation. I tend to CTM every morning, then dot my foundation on my face where I think I need coverage (usually under eyes, forehead and chin) and dab a damp beauty egg thing to spread it out. I do this over the moisturizer so my skin looks dewy and it lasts all day.

QueenOfTheTofuTree · 28/04/2019 00:49

Primer and makeup setting spray will help with the falling off.

I use a real techniques sponge and I much prefer it to a brush.

Approx40yearsofPMT · 28/04/2019 02:02

I think I’m the only person left who cannot get on with a beauty blender sponge thingy or foundation brush. I always go back to using my fingers - I get a lovely flawless base that way and whatever I do with a sponge looks terrible no matter what I do.

Sometimes I use mineral powder foundation and I apply that with a brush - that works too.

KittyWindbag · 28/04/2019 02:41

Fingers is the only way for me, or if I’m using a cushion bb cream then the little puff. I find I lose too much product on brushes and blenders just seem to push the product around my face. I think it depends on the kind of skin you have. Mine is quite oily and I find I get better even layers with just my fingers.
