Moisturiser for teenage skin

I have a teenage son who is currently receiving treatment for acne on his face. It seems to be working well at preventing breakouts but one side effect has been dry, flaky skin on his chin and the sides of his nose. Can anyone recommend a moisturiser which is unscented, non-greasy and won't clog his skin causing more spots? Many thanks.

My DS uses Avene Skin Recovery Cream, it meets all your requirements. I think it's £16.50 in boots but they often have offers.

frugalkitty Thanks for the reply. I'll stock up when I go shopping tomorrow morning.

I would highly recommend Sam Farmer products. The moisturiser is excellent.

cingolimama Thanks.

I've used Simple light moisturizer since I was a teenager so around 12 years or so. It's lovely and light on the skin, fragrance free and cheap.

mrsk28 Thank you - I have actually heard of that one. I live on the North Coast in NI so I don't have access to some of the larger department stores without travelling to Belfast. Ordering online also tends to take a bit longer to get here so anything that can be bought in the supermarket/Boots/Superdrug etc is even better.

Is your son on roaccutane?

When I was, I used Creme Reparatrice by Sisley.
Very very expensive but it did wonders on my skin. As a lipbalm the only one that worked for me was Hemp lipbalm from the Body Shop.

My dd swears by cetaphil moisturiser.

MsMamaNature · 24/04/2019 16:29

Honeybee85 Thanks. No, he's not on Roaccutane. He is currently on a course of antibiotics and has been given a gel face wash/cream to apply at night. We have been pleasantly surprised at how quickly they seem to have worked but the downside of the gel (which the GP warned us about) is dry skin.
I took Roaccutane many years ago but can not for the life of me remember what I used.
EveryDayIsLikeMonday Thanks.

Oh then you dont need to make such an investment.
I would take a look at La Roche Posay too

DD uses Cetaphil moisturiser plus their cleanser & serum (i think you can get it on Amazon). She's also tried two different antibiotics but neither of them made much difference to her skin so the last doctor she saw put her on the contraceptive pill. Obviously that won't be an option for your DS!!!

Shazafied · 24/04/2019 17:11

Agree - Cetaphil , definitely

MsMamaNature · 24/04/2019 17:14

Honeybee85 Thank you, I'll check that one out too.
WhatHaveIFound Thanks. I'm fairly certain he would have bigger problems than acne if we put him on the pill!

Shazafied Thanks for the suggestion. That one seems to be the popular choice and easy enough for me to pick up in the local branch of Boots.

Btw the point of the gel is to dry the skin , so only moisturise minimally and without oil for comfort.

MsMamaNature · 24/04/2019 17:43

yikesanotherbooboo Thanks. The GP explained that to us and told us to use an unscented, non-greasy moisturiser in the worst places.
