I'm afraid to even ask-glamorous evening trainers?

Just writing that makes me feel like I'm a fashion dud Blush.
I'm thinking with skinny jeans etc, for evenings where heels are not required?
I've a hen do coming up for example, small town pub and local disco.
Would these or these be a major fashion fail?

The first ones are hideous. Something a 12 year old would wear.
The second ones are ok.

EleanorLavish · 24/04/2019 11:04

Thanks.
I don't actually really like the first ones either, but I can't find what I really want?

I like the first ones!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 24/04/2019 11:06

Maybe some Air and Grace trainers? I'm quite tempted by the Cru silver glitter ones. airandgracelondon.com

Oly4 · 24/04/2019 11:20

What’s the fit like on Air and Grace? And are they as comfy as the reviews suggest?

EleanorLavish · 24/04/2019 11:45

The Air &Grace ones and the ones Riddley linked to are a style I don’t like. More plimsol style? I prefer a bit chunkier, I think it suits me better.
They are nice though.
I’m thinking more metallic tan glitter for me.

Metallic than glitter for me.

Chuck Converse are classic and you can't go wrong. The first one's you linked to are nice.
I like a pair of Nike Air's myself.
Air & Grace trainers or Ash are nice too.

MsKhan · 24/04/2019 12:20

Op you can't go far wrong with kurt Geiger trainers. They have some of the nicest evening trainers I've seen.

ShopoholicIn · 24/04/2019 12:28

Like the second pair you linked op not the first one

EleanorLavish · 24/04/2019 12:52

MsKhan thank you! Think I've found the perfect pair.
Thanks all.

I like the first pair, they are great for dressing down an outfit.......

Ohyesiam · 24/04/2019 14:12

So is glitter/ metallic the difference between a trainer and an evening trainer? Not being sarcastic, just old and interested.

CountFosco · 24/04/2019 17:14

I have sequinned converse which get lots of compliments, I wear them to work though (scientist).

HundredMilesAnHour · 24/04/2019 17:24

Must admit that I'm baffled by what makes a trainer into an 'evening trainer'.

I wear sequins and/or glitter and/or metallic during the day. Ironic perhaps but I see these as daywear. In fact quite frequently as gym wear.

I would never consider something like Converse as an evening wear (and that's coming from someone who wore out 3 pairs of sequinned Converse many years ago).

I am so confused....I think I need a lie-down. Too much for my tiny brain to handle today. Blush

EleanorLavish · 24/04/2019 19:14

I wouldn't wear them to a smart event.
A group of us often have an evening at one or the others house a few times a year. We get dressed up but I would't want heels.
Going to the local on a Sat night.
That sort of thing.

I'm not in the UK, so perhaps its different, but are you allowed to wear trainers or converse to clubs/discos?

Around here you'd wouldn't get let in (unless you're Kanye West) as they're against the dress code.

I do like the first ones though, but they seem more casual but slightly dressy day wear iyswim Smile

EleanorLavish · 24/04/2019 22:14

In London I don’t think anyone wears heels anymore. Well, unless your royalty or a z lister. I always notice it when I’m out in London that people wear very trendy flat footwear, brogues, trainers etc.
I’m not talking about a city centre nightclub, I’m talking about a rural, Irish local disco. Very different.
Irish pubs will let anyone in wearing anything.

No, I also don't wear heels. Oh OK, I didn't realise things were more relaxed there Smile. Sorry, didn't mean to be rude just didn't want you to get turned away at the door.

EleanorLavish · 24/04/2019 23:09

None taken. I do still like height for occasions but tend to go wedge sandals in summer or high block heel ankle boots in winter. I really can’t do the pain of stilletoes anymore though, ouch!
These are for much more relaxed settings.

Thanks Smile.
I used to love heels but can't even wear wedges now (horse riding accident), so I wear over the knee suede boots for going out, nice, well made ones and they work well for me.
