Clothes to avoid thrush

I'm getting recurring thrush. Ou've been advised to stop wearing jeans, tights and leggings and told to wear 'loose fitting cotton trousers' or skirts with bare legs. I'm 5ft 3 so loose baggy clothes or long skirts make me look even shorter. Until now i have lived in jeans outside of work and leggings with dresses at work. What the hell do i wear now?

I've used aqueous cream in the past too and found it helpful.

Going back to your original question - chinos? Culottes?

Linen trousers?

I had recurring thrush, which I passed on to DH, so he needed treating too. I came off the mini pill and stopped breastfeeding (DS was 18 months anyway), and it calmed down. I think my hormones were haywire. So try coming off any hormonal contraceptive.

I’ve also been told to ditch black pants as the dye can irritate - no idea if that’s true!

How's everyone going with it? I took fluconazole yesterday but still fairly miserable - never knew I could get swelling like that!

Have you seen your doctor? Had a blood test? Recurring thrush can be a symptom of diabetes (or pre-diabetes).

Yes, I was diagnosed with thrush after an exam and swab. It's my first time suffering after having had UTIs in the past

I am young so I think it's more to do with diet/hygiene/bad luck. This has knocked me on the butt though, as a reminder to eat and treat myself better. I normally wash with water only and wear cotton pants so this is unfortunate really

I suffered with recurrent thrush for a couple of years. Mine is hormone related, usually just before my period or if I need medication/antibiotics.

I now use this and it keeps it at bay!

I buy it in multipacks from amazon. And use it along side canestan pessary (not at same time) or the tablets.

When thrush active I use first and last thing for a week, then once a day, then every other day, every 3rd day, then once a week. Now I just use on the days leading up to my period when I start feeling dry and after sex and swimming. I use an old calpol syringe and find 2.5ml enough without making too much mess.

I’ve come to the conclusion over the years, that in most cases the length of treatment is too short, and we are not suffering from recurring infections- the initial infection just wasn’t resolved.

Buying cotton knickers is nightmare so I usually bulk buy whenever I find them. For work I just wear regular trousers but ones that have a deep seat/crotch so there is a bit of a gap between my body and the trousers. I’m between sizes so tend to go for the bigger ones that sit loosely on me. And I’ve started wearing hold ups but my inner prude won’t allow me to wear them to work Blush

No worries! I’ve spent hours on the internet and bought/tried so many different things! But the actigel is the only thing that works for me. IIt works simply by keeping PH levels balanced, so is more of a preventative than a cure.

I should add, usually there is no discomfort/feeling from the actigel but if the thrush infection sI particularly bad, then it can sometimes sting like hell! Don’t let that put you of, it goes after a few s3conds.
