Best shampoo and conditioner to beat frizz

I'm in desperate need of a really good shampoo and conditioner. I know a lot of the salon brands are brilliant but just don't know where to start.

I have relatively straight Caucasian hair that is past my shoulders but not excessively long. If I leave it to dry naturally it ends up awfully frizzy and I can't do anything with it at all.

Even when styled properly the ends (which are regularly trimmed) are still dry and look thin. I have blonde highlights around every 10 weeks however next weekend am starting to have balayage so it will be darker at the roots and midlengths.

I tend to wash my hair every other day because it just gets too greasy if I leave it any longer. I had a baby 8 months ago so have horrible short wisps regrowing at the front 😩

I currently use John Frieda flawlessly straight shampoo and conditioner which is ok but not great.

Does anyone have any suggestions for brilliant products that leave hair that is similar to mine smooth, nourished and looking lovely?

I'd love to get a Brazilian blow dry but money's too tight at the moment.

Tia x

Hi

My hair became like straw after having a baby and very frizzy.

Unfortunately I think that what works varies person-by-person but what finally worked for me was to use Aveda shampoo and conditioner for curly hair.

My hair only has a slight wave but switching to non silicone shampoos improved it greatly and after lots of trial and error I have finally found the Aveda to be the best for my hair (but not my bank balance).

I also bought a different hairdryer and this also made a big improvement.

Iron supplements also helped.

Finally- I think that time after having the baby, getting a bit more sleep as little one got older and stopping breastfeeding were also huge factors in improving my hair.

I hope that you find something that works for you soon.

P. S. I love your username and fully agree Smile

After spending years searching for a good shampoo for my frizzy hair I've settled on treseme keratin. I tend to vary between the shampoo and tgel for greasy hair but always use the conditioner. I then use John Frieda 3 day straight spray before using a hair dryer and straightness. I find that keeps it frizz free for 2 days and then I have to wash it as my roots are greasy.

Redken Frizz Dismiss is good but my hair isn't greasy. My hair changed completely after having DS, but eventually returned to pre-pregnancy normal, and is changing again post-meno. So I need to get it worked out all over again. There's always another change ahead...

Matrix biolage hydra shampoo and conditioner is great for this.

Styling products like serums are better targeted for taming frizz. I use wella luxe oil. Lasts ages as you only need a tiny amount on the ends. Also second the advice to invest in a decent hairdryer when you eventually can. Cannot stress how much of a difference this will make as a bad dryer on wet hair will damage your hair more than even daily straightening will.

Thank you all! I think my bank balance is going to take a hit this weekend trying out your suggestions!

For me, Liz Earle hair oil in wet hair before brushing post shower is a game changer. I can rough dry and not have to use straighteners. My fizz has found it's ringlets again!

Herbal Essences Bio Renew Argan Oil of Morocco finally sorted out my dry frizz, with tre semme protect heat defence spray.

Another vote here for treseme Keatin, your hair sounds very similar to mine and this has really helped reduce the frizz a lot. Pantene expert is also really good but I've found the treseme is just as good but half the price

Having my hair chemically straightened has totally changed my life. My hair goes so fluffy and just ridiculous and having it straightened does cost a lot (£130) but the confidence I get from just being able to brush it and go out the door, knowing I’ll arrive at work looking good and not like I’ve been dragged through a hedge even on the most blustery of days - such a good feeling!!

I use Hask keratin shampoo and conditioner.
