I have a flabby tum to hide and no boobs to offset it...

... what kind of dress can I wear to a wedding?

(Posh family wedding, I very much want to go with a dress)

I’m a 10-12. My stomach is flabby and too round (especially since I bloat easily)- every dress I look at to hide a fat tum seems to presume sizeable breasts above it that can be accentuated as a good point. Mine however are flat saggy nothings. What can I wear, anyone out there got any ideas?

Hi! Size 10/12 is so slim! Other people won't see what you do. Good underwear and bra can do a lot. Consider empire line dresses. I heard off the shoulder can also give the impression of a bigger bust. Enjoy the wedding x

I am the exact same and I could have written this post!!!

I'm 36 B, nice legs, chunky flanks and stomach which protrudes further than boobies. I also have huge rib cage thanks the preggo expansion that didnt contract.

I politely disagree and would not do an empire line as this style tends to rely on boobs to create the shape.

It seems unlikely but I have found the wedding outfit formula for me that I thinks suits: fitted/ skimmed but not skin tight (not lump or bump clinging) lower thigh or a few inches above the knee dress with something around the shoulders, like frills and a detail like cap sleeve to try and balance the shape higher up on your body.

i think the extra material around waist coupled with no bust doesn't help, so that's why i choose fitted not thin stretchy fabrics which cling. Also darker colours show less lumps and bumps.

I also think that a bold earring, exciting accessories and make up that suits will help.

dont now your budget i would wear this but i am a navy addict and accessories the shit out of it

New bra with some padding/uplift.

Look up dress shapes that work for Apple shaped body.

SnugglySnerd · 22/04/2019 15:23

No advice but watching with interest as I am the same shape and size.

Redskyandrainbows67 · 22/04/2019 15:24

A line - a wide cut skirt and waisted but loose

Redskyandrainbows67 · 22/04/2019 15:25

Do not wear the tight bottomed clothes posted above! It’ll only accentuate your tum!

RuffleCrow · 22/04/2019 15:31

Go for a fitted traditional-ish (50s/early 60s style) sleeveless dress with a skirt that naturally flares out from a highish waist, in a fairly sturdy cotton to hide lumps. I'm thinking Dirty Dancing sort of era if that helps Grin That's the only style that seems to work for me since I had kids.

Redskyandrainbows67 · 22/04/2019 15:35

Yes ruffle! That’s what I was trying to describe but not as well as you. Something like this maybe

Generally nothing with a defined waist!

Empire line or slight A line dress with a V neck (assuming you get the new bra). Get a bra that helps make your proportions more "right" aka balanced so a 12 all over sort of thing.

toycar · 22/04/2019 16:03

you're getting some conflicting advice i still stand by my earlier post of dont go for loads of extra material around waist/ hips if you are an apple and go for detail at shoulders or around neckline.

wrap dresses do not help my figure either.

RandomMess · 22/04/2019 16:04

No way to wrap dresses I look pregnant in them - like 6 months!

toycar · 22/04/2019 16:06

yes, well fitting padded bra helps me feel better too.

MotherOfGodFella · 22/04/2019 16:06

Are you wearing the correct sized bra? If not then one that fits properly will help bust look better. Try the guide on boob or bust here

toycar · 22/04/2019 16:09

that 2 layer monsoon crane dress is amazing.

CheesePuffTheMagicDragon · 22/04/2019 16:11

Also some kind of Spanx, if it's not too hot! Always makes me feel much better about my shape
