Hairdryer went fizz pop bang this morning so now I need a new one.

There's an overwhelming choice out there and they all seem much of a muchness. Anyone got one they care to recommend?

I think the Dyson is brilliant. My hair seems much less frazzled with it.

bodgersmash · 20/04/2019 18:37

The thing that makes me hesitate about the Dyson... it's £300. The air wrap is only £100 more, so that makes sense to me to get that if I'm going for the hairdryer. But the air wrap is OOS everywhere 😩

Look on QVC - they have Dysons and the Airwrap ( no P&P . One thing that bugs the be-jesus out of me the the P&P charge when most other retailers absorb it)

Anyway:
Airwrap is £449.96 on 4 EasyPay of £112.49

There;s a £327.00 Dyson dryer or a £299.94 one on 6 EasyPay of £49.99

You have your 30 Days Money Back assurance .

(I don't know how these prices compare on the High St or other online shops though)

I got a parlux hairdryer after seeing recommendations on here. It was more than the £20 I had previously spent on supermarket or boots purchases but miles less than a dyson and it’s brilliant.

Personally would not buy anything manufactured by James Dyson's company after his contribution to the current state of the U.K. and subsequent hypocrisy.

Whenasuitcasejustwontdo · 20/04/2019 20:14

Parlux fan here too! Admittedly I've never tried the Dyson but the Parlux is light, fast and gets my hair smooth.

WeeMadArthur · 20/04/2019 20:18

I have a parlux too, after reading recommendations on here, and it’s fab. I hate if I ever have to dry my hair without it, it takes so long. I used a hotel hairdryer last week and it felt like someone was just standing behind me and breathing hard on me!

SpeckledyHen · 20/04/2019 20:24

Another vote for Parlux .

JeffJarrett · 20/04/2019 20:26

Yer another for Parlux too. Again, saw all the recommendations on here and it's so fast and really smooths my hair.

SorrelForbes · 20/04/2019 20:39

I used a Parlux for three years and it was definitely the best hairdryer I'd ever had. I've now got the Airwrap and it wipes the floor with the Parlaux.

Floosey · 20/04/2019 21:15

The dryer on the airwrap isn't a proper dryer thoigh is it?

My 15 year old (?) hairdryer is held together with selotape but it is way down on the list of priorities but I can dream.

Cornishqween · 20/04/2019 21:17

I had several parlux's over the years and yes they are brilliant. Dyson is far better as easier to hold, the weight is in the handle rather than the head. Expensive but worth it.

Parlux is brilliant but heavier! Still very powerful and a bit of a workhorse.

QueenofCBA · 20/04/2019 21:29

I would never have bought the Dyson hairdryer myself, I got it as a gift and it is awesome! Really light and fast, it takes me 5 minutes to dry my chin length hair to look like it was done professionally.
Teenage dss are also very fond of it!

Pops1985 · 20/04/2019 21:30

GHD one, it’s amazing.

RuggyPeg · 20/04/2019 21:33

The dryer with the Dyson airwrap is a proper dryer and is fantastic.

thethoughtfox · 20/04/2019 21:48

I read loads of top 10 lists of hairdryers and bought a Label M one for £49.99. My hair dries really fast and looks much shinier.

bodgersmash · 20/04/2019 21:50

I've ordered the Parlux Alyon, thanks all! Its a third of the price of the Dyson so it'll do me fine if it's as good as the reviews suggest.

If it’s for styling I recommend to anyone a rotating hot air styler

I have the Remington one and it’s fantastic. I have naturally v curly hair that even some hair stylists cannot blow dry well but this give me a smooth blow dry with volume, looks like a glam salon blow dry and it cost me less than £20 at the time (maybe five years ago) but I’m sure there are other models

It’s the hot spinning stylers that dry your hair as they spin. I think they give the kind of finish you’d expect from a dyson styler. As long as your hair is fairly dry or very fine then it works wonders and is quick to use

Recommend me a hairdryer... or do I need the Dyson?
GlitterPixie · 20/04/2019 23:30

I love my Dyson I’d never go back to a standard one now

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/04/2019 23:53

Alice I've got a Babylis BigHair ( actually bought it for DD but she didn't like it) . I was meh about it - my hair was short but I was growing it so I used the smaller barrel brush.

Really impressed with it but sometimes it pulls my hair so I reckon I need to swap it to the bigger barrel now it's getting longer
My hair is collar-length now , it leaves it nice and swingey .

AliceRR · 20/04/2019 23:58

@70 Maybe try smaller sections. I use the big barrel as I have very long hair and don’t really have an issue with it pulling but obviously you do need to be mindful of what you’re doing. I think it gives a salon style blow dry but so easy as you can do it with one hand (I find a normal blow dry bard work physically). I do it when my hair is almost dry
